Has anyone ever had trouble taking your laptop through the airport? Did you have it as a carry-on or did you pack it with your checked luggage?

We are taking one with us when we go to WDW to download our pics off our digital camera and did not know what kind of trouble, if any, we would have at the airport.

Thanks!

I'd take it as a carry-on. Security may ask you to turn it on for them. Same as a cell phone.

I would never check it. There's no problem carrying a laptop on the plane. Just the added security steps you'll have to take as far as turning it on, etc.

all the times I've travelled with a laptop, I've never had to turn it on.

Take it out of the case. Put it in a bin by itself. Let it run thru the scanner. Pick up laptop on the other side and put in case again.

Done. Not much of a hassle really - much more trouble to take off belts, shoes, empty out pockets, etc etc.

The battery is dead in it...we use it by plugging it into the an electrical outlet. What would happen if they asked us to turn it on and we said that we could not?

Then be sure to have the power cord handy so you can plug it in. DO NOT pack it in your suitcase.
