No extra charge for wifi. Service might be spotty and it an open connection, not secured.
Suggested to keep it in the room safe it if fits. If it doesn't fit, in a zipped suitcase. But some will just leave it sitting out.
The Wi Fi is complimentary to WDW guests. (Translation, you're paying for it in your resort room bill.)
I put my laptop in a hard sided, locking, Samsonite Security suitcase.
A thief could steal the entire thing but it's large and heavy and it's not going to be tucked under someones shirt like the laptop could be.
I brought mine (only used it at airport and on the plane, so no wifi experience). While at WDW I just put my laptop case in my suitcase when I left the room and locked my suitcase with my luggage lock. So yeah I'm paranoid but it gave me peace of mind.
DH always brings his laptop because he gets all twitchy inside if he can't balance the check book every few days
I always bring my iPad. Next week I have to bring my laptop because I'll have some work to do during the trip.
We never do anything to secure them while we are in the parks. Sometimes they may be left out, if we forget to put them away on the way out. Usually they are just stuck in a drawer.
