Just curious. On a PC laptop I do use a mouse, but on my MacBook I don't.

No, on my old laptop I had to in the end as the buttons wouldn't work all the time

Yes, on all three.

A lot of what I do, especially on the laptop I use for music programs (lead sheets, arranging, composing) would be impossible to use without one. On the others, it's more of old habits are hard to break.

Yes, I currently have ten actions programmed to my mouse buttons.
right click
left click
wheel scroll up down
wheel button scroll left right
wheell button set to "esc"
mute button
volumes up down
mute
thumb wheel for scroll
thumb buttons for volume up down

and that is just for browsing, they do different actions for other programs like autocad and photoshop.

On the PC I have for work, I do because the touchpad and buttons just don't work well.
At home, I have a Mac Powerbook and I don't use a separate mouse. I love the touchpad and button. My oldest DD is an artist and does use a mouse with her Powerbook because the mouse lets her be more precise in placement of the cursor.

Yes, I have a small wireless mouse for my laptop. I never could get used to that stupid pad thingy at the bottom of the keyboard.:headache:

I'm new to my laptop. At first, I did get a mouse for it. I rarely use the mouse now. Only using it on certain applications if working on them for a long time & want to get done faster. I wish I was faster with the laptop mousepad, but I've come a long way already.

At work, my laptop is plugged into a docking station on my desk with an extra monitor for dual display. I usually have the VisionApp remote desktop client running on the second monitor with connections to multiple servers (freeware from www.visionapp.com - registration required, hands down the best RDP client I have found), with email, Word, HP Openview and other apps on the main laptop display. I use a mouse plugged in to the docking station. If I have to go to a meeting, I use the touchpad on the mouse.

Here at home, I use a desktop pc, but I also have a laptop running as well, along with a server with some virtual machines running for research and testing. Yeah, I'm a geek.:thumbsup2

Yes. The mice built into my laptops (both PC) are clunky to use. The "button" on one is pretty much useless and just gets in the way.

Nope, I just use the track pad on the laptop.

Having a separate mouse would defeat the purpose of having a laptop - using it wherever I want.

We had to start using a mouse with our laptop after something was spilled on the touchpad (despite the "no food while using the computer" rule...) and it doesn't work anymore. We got a wireless mouse, and it doesn't prevent us from using the laptop anywhere we want :)

I use a mouse when I have my laptop on a desk. Otherwise I use the touchpad (which I'm not a big fan of).

Both PC and Mac laptops, and I only use it for a few applications. For the 90% of what I use them for, I prefer the touchpad.

PC lap top - yes.. The finger pad drove me crazy from day one!!! Way too sensitive and hard to control.. I've got a great wireless mouse..:thumbsup2
