My bf wants to know if we are able to use our laptop in our room or if we only have access to internet in the cafe?

Thx

And thx to the makers of this board...You've helped me so much on planning the trip already

You can use the laptop in the room for internet access...

...provided you want to pay ship-to-shore telephone charges, which I believe are something like $6.95 per minute. :badpc:

You won't have internet access on your laptop in the internet cafes either. You have to use the PC's on the ship.

How does the unlimited internet access work? Do you have a code or something? Do I need one for each person in my party?

Thanks,
Laurie

You get an "account" and password which allows you so surf the net or use AOL.

The charge is about 75 cents a minute or $89 for unlimited access.

Last time my wife and I shared an account and password. To me, it doesn't make sense to get anything other than Unlimited, especially if you're online more than 20 minutes each day.

Realistically, you can not get internet access from your room.

In theory, it is not impossible. If you have an Internet Service Provider with dial-up access and a laptop with a telephone line modem, you could use the phone line in your cabin and dial into your ISP. But the phone rates (ship-to-shore) are on the order of $5-6 per minute.

And of course, if you have a satellite phone (assuming those things are still oporational), you could connect to your ISP with that as well.

The only realistic way to get internet access from on-board is to go to the internet cafe where they have computers that you have to log into. BTW, the keyboard and mouse are effectively the only thing of these computers that you can touch. There isn't a CD or a USB cable that you can connect to for you to do things like download files and pictures from your digital camera or your laptop computer.

Can we get unlimited access for internet in our room?

Can DH and I be online at the same time under the same account?

Sorry, no to both.

DH & I did the unlimited package on our 12/4 cruise. Between us we were probably online for 2-3 hours per day but I would go run in the morning and wach the sunrise and then check e-mail in the empty internet cafe, while he would check in during the afternoon during DS' naptime. We were there once together and tried to log-in using our credentials on two separate computers, mostly out of curiosity, and it wouldn't accept it. The log-in is based on your stateroom, so that was that. (Not that we were crazy enough to want to sit side by side doing work for any extended period of time!) We found the connection speed to be pretty decent. The printer was slow, but it was free, too.

Can two unrelated persons sharing a stateroom have separate internet accounts?

No, the way the account is done is directly attached to the stateroom and to whoever is the first person is on the booking for that cabin.

Can I get an unlimited plan, and give my info (password stuff) to a friend traveling with me in another cabin to use it as well? We'd split the bill,
