Sorry if this has been asked before i did look through the pages for a related topic

If I take my laptop with me do I have to put it in a laptop bag?

Are there any other requirements or regulations I need to follow

There was a thread on this on the UK trip planning board recently - last week I think. Dependant on who you are flying with you might be allowed to have it as a seperate pice of luggage or may have to have it in your main hand luggage. It will have to be taken out of any bags at security and shown. You may have to be prepared to switch it on if they ask so make sure the battery is charged.

just be prepared to remove from your bag at the xray machine and probably turn it on,

oh and put your charger in with your laptop incase your bags get separated

General laptop rules are:

- You can definitely carry it in with your other other hand luggage (no separate bag required). Some airlines will allow you to take a separate laptop bag, in which case you can use one, while other (normally cheaper) airlines will only let you take one bag, in which case it will have to fit in your normal hand luggage.

- Regardless of how you carry it, you will have to remove it from all bags (including special laptop cases) when you reach the x ray machines. Once it's been through the scanner as a separate item, you can then pack it away again. Note that this only applies to the actual laptop - chargers etc can stay in the bag.

- If you want to use it in flight, then you need to make sure you've disabled all wireless, bluetooth etc before takeoff. If you do that then you can use it any time that the seatbelt signs are switched off.

Thanks guys we are flying with continental I want to take it mainly to transfer our photos instead of taking lots of memory cards we have a dongle which can be used abroad obviously for a larger sum of money then when using here so I hope to do a Live trippie :D
