I've searched online, but can't find the answer.
I have two papers due in the next few weeks and might need to write them while on my upcoming WDW trip -
so I was thinking, I could write in the seating area behing Boulangerie Patisiere in France - which is one of my favorite places to be. :lovestruc

Do the security guards allow laptops in?
:confused3

I don't know about that area, but worst case scenario, you could walk through the international gate to beach club or boardwalk and use it in the lobby. It is about a 5-10 minute walk from "France" depending on pace.

Of course you know you aren't going to have Internet access.

On our first day, I brought my carryon bag (with my laptop) from the plane into MK because I wanted to lock it in a locker rather than leave it with Bell Services. Nobody at security stopped me :)

You never know. I work with someone who thinks if she plugs her laptop into a wall outlet she should have Internet access.

You must work at the same company that my husband works at.....:rotfl2:

I have heard you can access the interent on your laptop via your cell phone if you have interent/data access on your cell plan. I haven't done it but all you need is a cable to connect your cell to your laptop

My boyfriend used his netbook at Epcot in February. He likes to check on the market. Anyway, his AT&T air card worked perfectly. Epcot Security had no problem with his lapton.

Airport Security, on the otherhand, aren't as easy going. I have been through four different airports since February and my netbook was questioned each time. Apparently hot pink netbooks are a threat to national security. ;)

Most cell phone companies require a seperate data package called "tethering" for you to be able to access internet this way.

What sort of problems did airport security give you? I just bought a red Dell mini 10" laptop and hope I won't have the same issues.

I was not aware of that. thanks for the info.
I just thought if the cellphone had internet, and you plugged it in with the special cord then your laptop would have internet.

Also, if you tether or use any cellphone as modem options, your link lasts as long as your "talk time" on your battery.. not long for some!

A cellular data card is a great option but costly, since for most carriers that is like having another phone on your plan and it's probably going to be either limited data usage or more expensive for unlimited. It's a good option if it's your only broadband, but costly if you add that on top of a home DSL or cable modem broadband.

At work we have 2 we "loan out" to those traveling.

I have a pink netbook, too, but I didn't have any problems with security. I wouldn't worry about it. ;) I LOVED the ease of taking out my tiny netbook vs my laptop I normally would use through security.

And...it is only dialup. I do it with my laptop and blackberry when I have to---beats no access at all--- but it is not fast!
