Are there any rides that My DD (4) and I would have a problem riding because of the fact that she is small and I am pooh? Would rides that use Lap bars pose any problems like BTMRR where the lap bar would not be able to fit me DD snugly or does each rider have their own lap bar on that ride? Have any of you had lap bar issues in DLR??

Hmmm...I'm not sure about rough rides like BTM. I went on it the other day w/ this girl who is bigger than I am, so I had a gap between me and the lapbar. But I'm bigger than your DD so I can control myself from not falling out.
The only ride that I know of that has something for little riders to put on the lapbars is Mulholland Madness in DCA. Each rider gets their own lap bar, but if the child is small, they have a foam bar that goes over it.

A friend of mine is pooh sized, and she did not have any trouble with any of the rides, other than astro orbiters. I don't think sitting with your daughter would be a problem, as you probably won't be going on rides like BTMRR if she is only four (unless shes extremely tall?) so I wouldn't stress about it :goodvibes

Wll BTMRR only has a 40" height requirement and My 4 year old DD is 43". I'll take her on Matterhorn and Splash first to see if she thinks she can handle BTMRR. Just curious if they had any provisions like the foam padding on the lap bar on Mulholland Madness for other rides!

I am not pooh sized, but from my experience on rides, and seeing others loading/unloading, I really dont see a problem. I dont know how tall you DD is. My DS is 4 (he'll be 5 next month), but we did go last October while he was still 4 and April of 2007 while he was just past 3 1/2 years, and he was tall enough for SM, BTMMR, etc. He is tiny for his age, so I am sure your daughter is tall enough for these rides.
Because BTMMR is a "bumpier" ride, that is the only ride I could possibly see a potential problem. On SM, she would get her own bar if you guys decide to ride it.
HTH!!

Looks like you responded faster than I did. I dont know of any ride in DL that does that foam padding thing. See, I knew your DD would be tall enough, my DS is 42", and he is gonna be 5 on August 20.
Oh, and on taking her on Splash first, my kids were more frightened of Splash than BTMMR.
Hope you guys have a magical trip!!:wizard:

Yes, there will be a gap between your DD's lap and the bar on BMTR. But, even as an adult, we slide from side to side with the lap bar snuggly down. I believe it has a fixed place that it locks down at. It doesn't snug down like some other rides. I would just suggest your hold on to her tight and have a fun ride.

BTMRR is tamer than matterhorn or Splash I think. You move around more on thunder, but its a lot more tame overall, no extreme moments like the other two have. Matterhorn is a lot jerkier and looks a lot more intimidating as well. The lap bar on BTMRR doesnt really smush you into the seat or anything, what holds you in is the side of the car, everyone slides back in forth, your daughter will be A OK.

Big Thunder is the only where I can see this being a potential problem. In April, I went with my BFF who is considerably smaller than I (I am pooh sized as well), and he would slide back and forth. Fortunately, he can control himself.

The only other rides with lapbars for both riders are mild dark rides. Just make sure you hold onto your DD.

Aloha from Oahu as well, btw!

No worries. I went on BTMRR with my DD when she was 42". I am also amply proportioned. I noticed the gap between DD and the lap bar and was concerned. Turned out there were no problems at all. I did put my arm around her shoulders, but at no time did I feel she was in any danger of falling out.

Go in one of the front carriages to start with, BTMRR really throws you around at the back but is quite tame at the front. We use to ride the back carriage every time and it was an effort to stop yourself sliding around whilst in the front it was absolutely no problem...

If this was at all a danger for BTMRR (having size difference between lap bar sharers) Disney would have done something about this. I have ridden that ride (and I am pooh shaped too) with my kids for years. Haven't lost one of them yet!

Any ride that this is a concern with they will have separate lap bars. Mullholland Madness comes to mind. On that one, each rider has a separate lap bar. At one time, they shared and they had these funny things they would put on the smaller person's side. When that proved a problem, they installed new lap bars.

There is no ride at Disney where a person can fly out of due to this issue unless they find a way to climb out of the ride!
