I am curious if any DVC members have a lap band or gastric bypass and have requested to pay a child's fee for the plan rather than the full adult price given that you can't possibly eat all that food but want the selction just not the portion.

I had lap band surgery 2 years ago and have paid for the plan once since then. Needless to say my hubby ended up eating most of my food to his detriment. clearly i woudl be much better off with the kids meal. I'm just wondering if Disney woudl accomodate such a request. any insight would be appreciated.

thanks
Irene

Although I cannot say with 100% certaintity, it is almost 99.9% unlikely they will allow for this.

Just another note as well, with the child's DDP, the menu is restricted to the child's menu in most locations (exception of buffets).

The DDP probably is not the best option for you or others who have had the GP/Lap Band surgery.

I doubt it.

There are plenty of children who are 10 and 11 and would rather eat off the kids menu however they still pay full adult price.

The DDP is a lot of food, which is exactly why we do not pay for it. We buy what we want to eat and pay cash...

They will not. You have the option to take the dining plan if it works for your party or to pass on it if it doesn't. It doesn't work for everyone.

thank you for your replies. I guess i see the point. i was thinking the dining plan would work for the rest of the family just not me but i guess you can't have it all. We'll probably just do the DDP for the convenience of knowing exactly how much we are going to spend on food.

I have a 10 year old who eats like a bird. I still have to pay $42 a day for his food so that the rest of the family can have the dining plan. I so wish that a 10 year old was not automatically considered an adult for the dining plan. I wish you could choose for them to only be allowed to eat off the kids menu and pay the kids price. I know there are lots of 10 year olds who would prefer the adult menu, but I don't have one of them. I can't even fathom the amount of food (and money) that we are about to throw for our 9 night trip in September.

As others have said, they do not make exceptions on the DDP for light eaters, medical rasons or not.

Because this is not a DVC specific topic, I need to either move this thread to the DDP board, or close it. Since the question has been answered, I'm going to go ahead and close it.
