Lap Band anyone?

I am going to a seminar and consultation next Saturday for Lap Band surgery. Has anyone had this done? How much weight did you lose and how long did it take you to loose it? How much did it cost? My insurance does not cover it so I'd like to get an idea on the price before I go. Any info will be helpful. Thanks.

My dh had the LapBand surgery done in April. As of this week, he lost 47lbs. He already had 3 adjustments and feels wonderful. The surgery went well, no complications. He stayed overnight in the hospital and was in alittle pain, but, nothing that some meds couldn't take care of. I went with him for his seminar and everything with him, before, during and after the surgery. The only thing he did himself was have the actual surgery..LOL...So, please ask as many questions as you want, if I can be of any help, I'll be glad to..We were covered by ins.

I've been a work in progress since May and just got sch. for my Lap Band surg. for Sept 9th. I have alot of other med problems that needed to get cleared for so that is the reason it's taken so long. The cost for down here is about 15,000 for the Lap and around 20,000 for the gastric. So far I haven't heard of my Ins. denying me, but I already have a letter of appeal written and given to the Dr. in case it happens. 2 of my co-workers have had this done with great results.
