Where do you get your lanyards? We have never done pin trading, I got the disney pins off ebay, but now need lanyards. Do you buy them there? Ebay? Anywhere else? We are leaving in a week and a half, so I need to find something!
Thanks!!

Since you only have a week and a half the online purchase option might not work for you.

Most of the parks have starter kits for pin trading. You get a lanyard with some pins of a similar theme and then they can be traded for more special pins. There is a pin trader store in DTD also.

I have read that people buy starter pins online but have never done that myself.

All cast members wearing lanyards will trade with you. My kids had fun with it when they were young.

I bought my girls lanyards at Party City for $1 each! They had a good selection. I believe Mickey, Minnie, Princess, Tinkerbell and Cars, possibly Toy Story. They appear to be child size but, I could wear one. I don't think they would work for a larger adult though.

The Party City lanyards are the perfect length for me. I wouldn't want one any longer than those. I'm 5'3", if that helps.

I think I also saw some Disney lanyards at K-Mart, where they have the key chains. Not as big a selection as Party City.

When the girls wore their pins on lanyards during our trip many moons ago, we lost 2 pins when the backs fell off. It was upsetting.

We wound up purchasing locking backs. They aren't easy to put on/take off and they were costly.

It wasn't worth the hassle so now I just carry 2 pins for each person in my backpack. Can't lose them and it's simple.

Moral of the story- be cautious with the lanyards.

My kids loved the pin trading. We picked up a starter kit when we got to the park. Be careful with the ones you got from Ebay. There are pin fanatics on here that go crazy about those being fake pins. I had never heard of such a thing the 1st time I was down at WDW. My son had traded with another boy and picked what anyone would assume was a Disney pin. When he tried to trade it to a CM they wouldn't trade him for that one because it wasn't a "real" Disney pin.
Have fun.

I wore a lanyard with my pins, and I found out they don't stay on very well. I had lost a couple. Ever since, I keep them in a small ziplock back, or a 'pin purse'. I would never wear a lanyard again. So be careful!

Last trip, after the first day I kept dd's lanyard w/ the pins on it in a ziploc in my park bag. I just took it out for her when she wanted to trade. It was supposedly a child's size but it was too long for her (she was only 5) and it was getting in her way and I was a little worried about it catching on something on one of the rides.

My daughter also loves pin trading. She would start out wearing her lanyard but as she collected pins or at the end of a long day she found that it grew heavy to wear. So I would end up carrying her lanyard and pins in my bag and she would pull it out when she wanted to trade. She always started the day out with it on though. We were lucky that we didn't loose any pins due to the backs falling off though. Have fun trading.
