Next Question: Besides Walt Disney World and properties, where could one fine a lanyard? I want to surprise my boys with their pins on a lanyard when we go. I have called my local disney store.. and they said they do not carry these. Any help would be appreciated..

I know that dizpins.com sells their own lanyards too.

If you want one from them, I can give you the addy of the person who sells them for the site.

Although we are frantically trying to keep up with demand, each lanyard still gets its own personal fit test by me.

I should have pieces of paper made up to send with each lanyard, "Inspected by Arizona Jeff".

If you need information about lanyards feel free to send me an e-mail. I will be happy to answer any questions you might have.

Hi Leslie,

To paraphrase a great author, "The news of my death was greatly exaggerated." This lanyard making thing is getting just a little overwhelming. What started with Trina making "a few" lanyards for The Great Pin Adventure had enveloped both of our lives leaving little time for much else (other than baseball of course). I will have to take another picture after we get the next set done. I just finished purchasing materials for 4,000 lanyards (which is a frightening sight) and need to pick up webbing for another 600 tomorrow. I am afraid with this one I will have to be wearing some kind of lanyard suit since I don't think I can put them all around my neck without doing an impression of the Flintstones car at the drive-in. I promise I will try to post more often now (if Trina doesn't sew me to a desk first).

Hi Jeff, Speaking of baseball, I went to the Yankee game Tuesday night with my family. The game itself was boring (the Yankees lost, yet won the pennant...weird) but the atmosphere was so exciting. It was the Yankees first homegame since Sept. 11. Everyone had flags, alot of people brought banners and posters. The feeling of patriotism was so strong. They had New York Police and Firefighters on the field and they received a huge ovation. Everyone went crazy when Mayor Guiliani was introduced. But the most awesome thing was the moment of silence they had for those who were lost....all of a sudden Yankee Stadium went silent...you could hear the cars driving by outside the stadium. It was truly an emotional and touching moment and one that I will never forget....

Well, I realize now that all this has nothing to do with baseball, nothing to do with pins and absolutely nothing to do with this thread, but I wanted to share....

Now, are you and Trina seriously making 4000 lanyards??

Leslie

Leslie,

The experience at the ballpark this week has been very emotional in Arizona as well. Tuesday was the Diamondbacks first home game since the tragedy and it too was very heart-wrenching. There happened to be an International Fire Fighters convention in Phoenix this week so before the game, the Arizona Diamondbacks invited all of the firefighters from around the country to join them on the field. The players stood at the edge of the stands and personally shook each fireman's hand and thanked them for their efforts as they came onto the field. It was a very special moment that I shall never forget.

In answer to your question regarding lanyards, yes Trina and I are making 4,000 lanyards. Well actually we are making a few more than that as I am now working on another design that is red, white and blue embroidered with "USA" at the bottom. I have already received orders for 300 of the new design with potentially another 700 within a month putting our total to 5,000 lanyards. I have to admit, seeing 5,000 yards of material, 84 yards of Velcro, 4,000 swivel hooks, 47 spools of thread and 16 packages of sewing needles all stacked in one place is a little mind boggling. We are anticipating having all of the lanyards constructed before the first of December so right now we are knee deep in cutting, burning, and sewing. We seem to have come a long way from when I asked Trina if she could make "a few" lanyards for "a small" pin get together.

Jeff

Leslie & Jeff, after reading yoru conversation here about recent baseball games, I have chills & damp eyes. Thank you for sharing your thoughts & observations.

Jeff,
Do you have to fly to that pin meet? I would hate to think you of going through security with that bucnch of lanyards. They could be deemed lethal weapons of some sort (LOL).
Amazing picture!

Penny,

As a matter of fact, I did have to fly to a pin meet with all of those lanyards. My adventure at the airport is one I will not soon forget. It took me an hour to get through the security checkpoint as they had to look through the bag and check each lanyard. The funny part about it was that I had 5 airport personnel want to buy lanyards from me. I had to go find a mirror as I had never seen a traveling lanyard salesman before.

Based upon the response that we have gotten and the numerous requests for information, I threw together a small web page to answer questions regarding our little lanyard making business. If anyone would like to review this, I would be grateful for any comments. Please excuse the unfinished nature of the site, I only had a couple of hours to throw it together and the graphics and navigation leave a little to be desired. The web address is:

nowhitting.com/azlanyards/

Well, better get back to my cutting. I have another 200 lanyards to size before I go to bed.

Hi!

I am really interested in the patriotic lanyards.

I have not officially become a pin trader. But I have become very interested in patriotic pins and flags.

I would like to wear one of these patriotic lanyards at work with those patriotic cards that you are selling. I could exchange a different card (all four of them) every day.

I would also like to buy two packages of those pin holders, so I wouldn't loose my pins.

I work in an Intensive Care Neonatal Nursery as a respiratory therapist and past lanyards have been torn off or banged up in emergencies because of it catching on equipment, reaching over beds, or sometimes I didn't know it was missing until I needed it.

I would also like to buy that waterproof case for WDW and another lanyard so that I could use it at WDW to show off my patriotic pins.

I'm ready to order.

Should I give you my credit card.

By the way, at work I would attach my hospital name I.D. with picture and another security card to open doors to the lanyard. Right now, I use this little thing with a string attached that allows me to stretch out mu security card to open doors and then it automatically retracts back like a tape measure or yo-yo.

Seeing the pictures sold me on your products.

Sincerely, Ray Sharpton
