We're first time cruisers, and I really do see the convenience of a lanyard for KTTW cards while on the ship. I will mostly be wearing sundresses without pockets and it will be great to not have to carry a purse. However, I don't really want a lanyard around my neck during the photo opportunities. Do you remove it and just hold it in your hand for pics? How do you remember to take it off? Or do you just wear it in the photos and not worry about it? What about with Halloween costumes, pirate costumes, and formal night? I guess I'm struggling with convenience vs looking good, as vain as that sounds, LOL.

You can remove it and hold it, or not. Your call.

With my pirate costume, I have a little bag (fits the theme of the costume) that I carry my KTTW card in. Formal night, I have a small, fancy clutch. Or I have my husband carry my KTTW card

One thing, as first time cruisers, you'll need to bring your own lanyards, if you want to use them.

You could decide to leave your KTTW behind when going for photo ops, if someone else from your room will have theirs in a pocket or wallet.

I always seem to be holding several items (camera, bag, other family members' stuff) but when we're getting our pictures taken, there's always an opportunity to place them on the floor on the other side of the photographer. I'll take off my lanyard if I'm wearing one and add that to the pile as well. Lol I've done that countless times as do others. It's just a matter of remembering to do it ahead of time in my case.

This is so smart, I need to find bags that will work for this!!

Yes, I have ordered some for us to use.

Good point, I will still be carrying a camera, autograph books, etc most of the time... so I'll still have some sort of bag too.

Though my husband would disagree, the bottom line is that I need to go bag shopping! :cool1:

Actually, I got a small drawstring bag once (holding a gift, the bag itself was not the gift) made with drapery materiel that works well for the pirate costume.

LOL! Which lanyards did you order? We are gold, but on our last cruise I was so sick of them, they are not very attractive. I'm not sure platinum will be any better. I've been looking on amazon but haven't seen any I liked.

I usually end up sick of the lanyard and putting my KTTW in my pocket if I have one, or the camera bag pocket, or in a bag I'm carrying.... then when I'm leaving the room and realize I need it I have to dig through everything to find it. There must be a better way!

I was looking at the Disney character ones, but it would mostly be my kids that would want those, and they probably won't be wearing one anyway. So I just got a cheap 10 pack of assorted colors with the ID holders attached for $10. I also wanted some extra ID holders, I read a recommendation once to put the KTTW in one holder, and drivers license, credit card, cash, etc, in another one. That way at the ports you can clip both on the lanyard, but on the ship you just need the one. So this way we'll have some extra ID holders if we decide to do that. And I can match the lanyard color to my dress for that day... crazy I know! :cool2:

When I'm planning to have my photo taken - standing in a character line, or to meet the captain or the like - I take mine off my neck and wrap it around my wrist a couple times like a bracelet (with the ID part tucked into my hand). That way I don't put it down and forget it, and it's not so obvious in photos. But there is usually a place to put your stuff down. For example on formal night when they have cocktails in the atrium, they'll have a little table for people to put their drinks, etc down before photos with the captain. With impromptu photos, I just pay no attention to it, I guess, and the results didn't bother me.

I don't care for the lanyard "look" either lol but the two plastic pouches clipped to one lanyard is a great idea and one my 11 yr old daughter came up with all by herself! We had two rooms last cruise and you couldn't use two KTTW cards in the same pouch without removing them. We like the new KTTW cards with the RFID chips inside so you don't have to actually remove them from the pouches to open your doors. But if two are in the same pouch you do. We had just done the first leg of our B2B so we had double the lanyards. I thought it was really smart of her to think of clipping on a second pouch!

My husband can't stand the lanyard either. He uses a badge reel like he has at work (he clips it to the waistband of his shorts); I use one for formal night but I turn it around so the clip shows, but the badge is inside the neckline of my dress.

I like the Platinum better (the black is very stylish) I often have a drawstring bag with me (With swimsuit, iPod, etc.) and will pop my lanyard in it... makes it easier to find in the bag

I'm a pin nerd so I love wearing my lanyard in most pics. Except at night; I have a wristlet that I use onboard. It fits my phone, wave phone (so we can put the kids in the club), and KTTW card.

In the gift shops they sell Disney themed lanyards. Sorry, no pictures, but I remeber them being on the Wonder in August.
