If we buy those lanyards that come with the clear plastic "ID holder", can we put our tickets in there and use them that way to gain entrance and use our FP+ (without taking them out)? If so, we may skip buying MBs this trip...

Disney's website states repeatedly that you can use a card rather than a band, so your plan should work (I plan to do the same whenever I return, I did not like wearing the band on my last trip).

But be aware that a few people here have reported having trouble getting the cards at WDW when they've requested them. Some CMs have claimed that they are not available, one person said they were told it would be a big deal to get one for them, and one CM who posted here said that not all resorts still have the means to make the cards.

I haven't used the cards for FP+ but I keep my Annual Pass in a lanyard along with my Drivers License, TIW card and some cash. I use the card to enter the parks and to make it easier, I bought lanyards that have the ability to extend the card pouch a foot or more. That way there is no need to take the lanyard off to scan the card. I just pull the card holder down to the scanner and it scans my AP right through the clear plastic card holder..:)

I'd imagine that instead of magic bands you can use the RFID cards the same way, just get an extendable lanyard so you don't have to take it off or bend down to scan the card at the attractions and park entrance.

I wonder if it would be okay to punch a hole in the KTTW card to wear on the lanyard? I'm not seeing any Disney-themed lanyards that are extendable, but they have a few that you can unbuckle the end of to release the card for swiping. I like the aesthetic of a punched card vs the plastic holders (and it gives me more options in which lanyard to buy).

I don't have a Disney lanyard, i bought mine from a shop here in Florida that sells them online. The ones with the extendable cord have a hook on the end. I just ordered some heavy duty clear plastic card holders that have a ziploc type seal at the top of the card slot to keep weather out. The hole is above the ziploc and the cards are fully enclosed in the card holders. It keeps them dry this way on water rides and in rain. I keep my cash and my TIW card (which is paper stock) in there so this is perfect. I'll add a link to one tomorrow if I get the chance, right now I'm about to hit the sack..:)

bump, anyone know if you can punch the KTTW cards? I am ordering lanyards now and wanna know if I should narrow it down to just the ones with the ID holders...

As long as you don't punch out the mag stripe or the RFID Chip/antenna (which honestly I would have to scan a few of them to tell you about where it was embedded.)

I would suggest you don't punch a hole in it. Assuming you can get a card. Like others have said, they are not generally available or offered any more.

Not true. We just got them 2 weeks ago at Guest Services in DTD. The CM pulled out a huge stack of them so we could pick which character we wanted for each person.

We aren't staying at a resort. Are you saying they're doing MBs for off-site guests now?

I figure at a park like Disney everyone is going to look like an uber-tourist-dork, so why not go all the way. I picked up one of these for my pass:

If you're willing to take the risk, you could defeat the breakaway on it and use it as your wallet/phone holder. Combined with a fanny pack you'd pretty much be able to carry everything you want on you.
