Lanyard Pins-What do you really think?

Would like to know what most folks think about the lanyard pins. Are you collecting them when you can, seriously looking for them, think they will make a cool collection, could care less and aren't going to bother with them, or what?

I am collecting them as best I can when I am at the parks every few months, but I don't know if I think they are the best quality and worth the efforts or not. Just wondering about everyone else's thoughts on these.

Just like any pins, some are very neat. Some are *okay*.
I collect what I can (one of each), but won't die if I don't get them all.

I love the 2 USA pins but other than that, I agree with the both of you.

The others that I like are
Pooh on the train
3 license plates
2 Topiary pins

I have some, but not going after all of them.
Of course I have the 3 Mickey heads. They look well made, but not even the $6.50 rack pin quality.
I do have the ILUVMickey License plate, even though the paint is off it. I had to get that one, but the quality is worse than poor.
I have the Mickey with the blue box behind him, but I don't think the others, expecially Minnie seem to "go" with that if they are trying to make it a series.
And now that Caroline has traded me for the Mickey in the Tux I guess I have to get the Goofy in the tux but I won't go crazy looking for it.
The only ones that I really will hunt for are the USA ones. Even the Figment head one is u*g*l*y!
And I certainly don't think they are worth an LE or worthy of being sold on e-bay for what people are asking for them. I saw so many of the sharkies in DTD telling people how hard it was to get those and because they are hard to find they are worth an LE. Not in my pin-books. Peggie

So far there have been only four lanyard pins that my kids and I have wanted: Tinkerbell (for me...thanks Mario!!), Snow White (for Rachel....thanks Mario!!), Snow White's cottage (for Rachel...thanks Leslie!!) and Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum (for David...thanks Joette, who sent this as a gift!!).

So I guess my answer is that we collect the ones that go with the themes we already collect. And when we go down to WDW in November, I will be paying special attention to whatever series is out at the time that may be of interest to my pals here (based on what I know they like) because it will be so much fun to surprise them with something that I know is perfect for them (except for Mario of course, who always has everything before I can get it for him!)

I sense that if they came out with a Jessica Rabbit lanyard pin, that my husband would suddenly develop a strong interest in pin hunting....

I'm getting the ones that catch my interest. I got Beast's Castle while I was down there, as well as the first two license plates. My son loves trains, so I'm putting the train series together for him. My mom is looking for the new Goofy plate for me while she's there this week, as well as the new eeyore on a train. Other than that, I'm not impressed with all of them, but that's generally the case with most of the pins.

The girls and I have collected all of them so far, and found three of the new ones today. What's the point of only having some of them when you can have all of them? :)

Aside from the novel "topiary" pins, the others are just...ho hum!

At least that's one trader's opinion! Your pin pal...Disneyboy

Oh yes, that too!! Rachel loves all those castle pins. Thanks Mario!!!

Trying to collect them all --- started when we were in WDW in April --- having been trading via dizpins & pinpics since we got home, and buying on ebay when I can get a good deal.

I have all of them so far and find them cute pins. They did a much better job on these pins than the new series of pins at the Disney Stores. They are also great traders. My grandson uses them as traders for his beloved Pluto pins (and others). He's gotten great and generous responses from our CA and overseas traders. Pinpics: GUPPY.

I find them a breath of fresh air when it comes to looking at CM lanyards now. I've been doing this since 1999, when it all began, and now I'm actually having fun looking at CM lanyards again. I leave for my next trip in less than 3 weeks and am hoping to find some of the new series, but if not, I still have others that I can trade. I will probably take the lanyard pins from series 1 and 2 back on this trip to trade for some of the new ones since I'll only be there 6 days this trip. Unfortunately, this is the last set of lanyard series pins. I had heard a rumor that the series was going to start over again, but we'll have to wait and see. My favorite has to be the USA ones and Tink, but Figment is cute too.

I've got 7 of them. I really like them and I'm shooting for the whole collection. A lot of the pins I really like! It also reminds me of when I first started collecting last month while I was in WDW. I found out about Lanyard Pins and it made me go up to every CM and ask, "Do you have any lanyard pins?" Then we talked about trading and what events and different kind of pins are out there.

It's kind of fun knowing the lanyard pins you have in your collection came straight from THE PLACE! Even though they might have been passed around a time or two. The idea of not being about to buy them from the rack is pretty cool.

Well, have fun!

I agree that the license plate ones (painted aluminum I was told) are poorly made, and flake paint while you're just looking at them. But the others are well made. I'm not after every single one, but I love the Pooh characters on the train, the USA series, topiary, marquees, character heads etc. I agree with n2mm that they are a breath of fresh air on the lanyards...I hear they'll soon be ending...is that correct?? Sure hope not!
