So with the ticket and frent of the line ID I'm thinking everyone needs a lanyard? Or does someone have a better option? What do you do with all your family's stuff

Lanyards aren't my style (not sure why as they are totally practical!). I carried everyone's stuff in my cross body purse and doled them out when needed. We didn't have express passes.

Let everyone pick their own lanyards. Kiddos love this as each person can pick their own character. Put their tickets facing one window and express pass on opposite facing window. If your staying onsite hotel key in middle. Zip the top on the plastic sleeve and go have fun.

Your park ticket is easily scanned on one side and express pass easily scanned on other side. You don't have to go digging in a bag to hand out everyone's tickets and express pass when they can wear them.

When riding coasters stick them down your shirt. Not a problem.

It's not complicated at all. WDW has bracelets. Universal has lanyards. Makes things easy.

No matter what you choose have fun at Universal.

And WDW used to have lanyards. How else did pin trading get going?

They've always (we started going in 2010) made us take our admission out at the park entrance, FWIW. Since we use hard plastic cases it might not scan through, not sure. Though the EPs scan just fine through that plastic.

I find lanyard pouches great to keep my ID and insurance card (never know if your day might end at an ER, where they'll treat you without those things but they'll also visit you every half hour until you get them the info and proof that you are you) along with CC and cash. I still use them at WDW.

DS has been wearing a lanyard since our first big Disneyland trip when he was 3. Not sure he kept anything in there, but he wanted to wear it. Since the lanyards at Disney and Universal have velcro attachments for safety we didn't want to tie it to make it shorter, but our little pirate figured out that if he wore it across his body diagonally then it worked. :) Now he carries all of his cards with him. Not sure when. At some point between 3 and 12, though, LOL.

For a little while I carried everyone's everything. That was after DH had his and DS's Disneyland APs in a Disney-bought lanyard pouch, it was under the restraint on CA Screamin', he *felt* it pulling, hard, and during the loop it pulled even harder, broke the plastic* on the pouch, and off the pouch sailed. Out in Anaheim you get to pay for AP replacements, and since they never found the APs (in a Disney pouch, on a Disney ride, when they said that they search with lights on every night for things that drop...whatever) we got to pay for both of them to be replaced. So for about a year I kept their cards.

*one of many reasons I use the hard plastic, waterproof case with strong metal rings on a strong hard plastic loop...

Yes I am afraid of it getting stuck and flying off someone's neck. I'm a little ocd on this trip right now since I just booked yesterday and it's justhe me and the kids!

While on rides, I tuck the lanyard under my top

It won't fly out then

Not a fan of kids wearing lanyards unless they are of the breakaway type as Disney pin trader type. Not everybody uses them in the parks. I'm not a fan of the wide lanyards, just feel uncomfortable to me. As Bumber stated above, they can dwarf a child. Never thought of wearing cross body - good idea!

Problem with the detachable ones, they're just too easy with an active smaller kid to have it catch on something. If no weight to it (such as ones 'not' loaded with trading pins), easy to not miss it right away.

Until kids were old enough to attach to belt loop/put in pocket, I wrangled them all.

Bumbershoots we have never had to take the tickets out of the plastic to be scanned. We were just there in May and again had no problems. I think the quality of plastic they are using has gotten better over the years.

They easily scanned our AP's and EP's without issue through the plastic.

A few weeks before vacation, we took a family trip to Five Below and each person got to pick their own lanyard (and at great savings). I was surprised that the kids liked wearing them. It is a symbol of being important or just on vacation and having a fun time.
