My husband and I had separate appts for massages (he had deep tissue I had Lomi Lomi) around the same time. They called me the day before and asked if we wanted to be in the Couples Room. No extra charge so agreed. The Spa is so lovely and nice. The outdoor amenities, pools and showers, were wonderful. We had about 30-40 minutes to use them prior to our massage. I’ve been to the spas at WDW and on the cruise line and this was heads and tails over those. Of course, it is pricy, but worth it in my opinion, the state tax is a big chunk to add on.

Noise wasn’t an issue when we were there, but it did seem to be a much slower day than the day before (Labor Day)

I think people are misunderstanding how that pool is being used. Yes, kids are allowed in it now, but it's still just a plain pool. There's a little kids play area, a big kids play area, a lazy river, two waterslides, an infinity pool, a giant zero entry pool, a snorkel lagoon, and the freaking Pacific ocean ten feet away. The wild and crazy kids aren't going to choose the former adult pool so it's still going to be mostly people who want a quieter and less crowded experience.

I think people are misunderstanding how that pool is being used. Yes, kids are allowed in it now, but it's still just a plain pool. There's a little kids play area, a big kids play area, a lazy river, two waterslides, an infinity pool, a giant zero entry pool, a snorkel lagoon, and the freaking Pacific ocean ten feet away. The wild and crazy kids aren't going to choose the former adult pool so it's still going to be mostly people who want a quieter and less crowded experience.

I was there in a high occupancy time (early July) and it was pretty full and in the water it was maybe half kids? In lower occupancy times I could see it being a very different story.

As a total aside, I have wondered if some of the stranger Aulani decisions will be revisited with new DVC leadership.

I don't have the full list off the top of my head, but my gut tells me that most (all?) of the "stranger" Aulani decisions are driven by COVID. I can't think of any that are expected to be permanent.

Ama Ama is a fully outdoor restaurant that is closed that has nothing to do with Covid. Keeping an adult pool is not Covid related. So no.

The adult pool has been temporarily converted to a family pool to allow people to spread out more on the pool deck. I know everyone likes to complain about the change, but the reality is that the adult pool sat empty a huge amount of the time. They can't be wasting that square footage right now.

AMA AMA is closed because 1) they don't have the occupancy to support it and 2) they don't have the staff to operate it. Not every COVID decision is for health and safety reasons. In many instances it's due to demand and labor issues. It's the same reason we still don't have daily housekeeping at Walt Disney World.

We had a 2 pm massage appointment on a Monday. Went to the spa at 1 pm so we could enjoy the garden section. Never noticed any noise at all from the pool.
