Okay, I just heard some samples from Amazon.com, and I'd say the Dixie Chicks hands down! This is one of the few covers I've heard that not only does justice to the original, but supasses it as well! I love those harmonies.
Now if we were talking about Bryan Adams "Heaven" and who ever it is who does that god awful version dance mix.... ewwww gives me the heebie jeebies just thinking about it!!
I like the way Stevie Nicks sings it, but I love the Dixie Chicks version. Actually, I think they both sound somewhat similar, but I really like Natalie's voice.
I like the Dixie Chicks version better, it doesn't sound a whole lot different but their version sounds cleaner if that makes any sense. Or maybe smoother would be a better word.
Since I detest country music and I LOVE Fleetwood Mac, I've gotta go with Stevie's version. I'd love to have her voice.
My dd loves the DC's version. If it comes on the radio, I promptly put in my FM cd and play the song the way it's supposed to be played. Then to make up to her for being mean, I play FM's song Sara, since my dd's name is Sara.
I think the Dixie Chicks version is pretty true to the original. It depends on what mood I'm in to decide which version I like better. Our pop station played snipits of the different covers of this song and except for the Chicks they were all horrid! Sorry MetalMasterC but the Smashing Pumpkins version made me laugh.
