We just got a quote from Small World for a 4 night Cruise and 4 night Land and it's $12,000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOW! This does not include airfare either and it's the least expensive stateroom with a second seating dining. I thought it would be pricey but that is totally absurd. The land part is at CSR and is what we normally pay for our 8 day package, it does include a Jr. Suite, which we really don't want anyway. I have been on the Disney Cruise website, but I just can't get myself into all of the planning, this just seems a little high to me.

WOW is right! We are doing a 8 day/9 night trip to Disney World, followed by a 7 night cruise and we are paying less than $12,000!!!!

In fact we are under $7,500 (cruise, hotel, tickets) and that is staying 2 nights at AKV and 7 nights at BWV. We are renting points from DVC owners. And we brought 8 days PH tickets through YES program

When are you going? That is an insane quote. Do you have an kind of discount for the land portion? Make sure your TA is not booking your WDW portion through DCL. If you do that you will be paying rack rate for it.

Wow. DId you try pricing everything out individually? I think the suites are CSR are pretty pricy. Could you get a price with a regular room?

We did 6 nights at WDW, plus a 3 night cruise, and found it to be significantly cheaper to book everything individually - WDW, DCL, airfare. We rented DVC points, booked the DDP, got tickets through UT. I also found that we don't really love 3/4 night cruises, and although we enjoyed DCL, we prefer to save $ on other lines.

How many people is that for? Are they children or adults? And how soon would you be setting sail?

The price seems awfully high and I suspect that part of it is due to the cost of the junior suite at CSR and tickets at the gate price. Does it also include a dining plan for the land portion?

Add to this the fact that DCL is very expensive. You can get some deals if you book very early (or last minute) and have a TA who gives you an onboard credit for booking with them. Every once in a while, they offer Kids Sail for Free cruises. You might also want to do like others have recommended and book your land portion separate from the sea portion.

If you have more than 4 people, you might consider booking 2 inside connecting cabins instead of the more expensive verandah cabins that sleep 5 or more.

The CSR junior suites are very expensive. I'm sure that's driving your cost WAY up. If you have more than 4 in your party, try for 2 rooms, or if you have 5, see about the pricing at a deluxe resort like Poly or CR or BC that sleeps 5 in a standard room.

How far out is your cruise? Generally the cheapest rate you can get for a cruise is by booking it 18-24 months in advance...the rates just keep going up closer to the sail date.

I would plan it by yourself. DCL offers deals all the time on their site but probably not on the new ships right now because they are near capacity. Our first two cruises on the Wonder we got as a bounceback offer where we bought the 4 nighter and got the 3 nighter for $99/person. We have always had a verandah but the inside staterooms are pretty neat also and so are the porthole window staterooms. They do offer KSF or kids sail free from time to time.

The land portion they are always offering some kind of offer like free dining. We just got a pin for Art of Aninmation. If you have been there to WDW before you can usually call and see if you have any pin numbers available.

I had DCL book my air and never again. With them we had to take two flights in and almost missed the ship. Now we've been flying Southwest and are pretty happy.

Our trip in October cost about $6000.00. That was with a category 4D deluxe family verandah stateroom. 4 nights at Disney at CBR (got a free upgrade from POP) airfare for the 4 of us $1000.00, MNSSHP, and two parks.

Sign up for all the airlines newsletters to get the best air fares or Kayak.com to alert you when it goes on sale. This last trip we paid off over 2 years but we have gone on DCL with as little as 6 months notice. Again the prices are higher the closer to sail date.

The date was for this June. I thought it might be less booking closer, we may have to put this off for a year. The cruise part alone was over $6000 for 4 nights and the land part was $5800 for 6 nights (a lot higher than when I priced it online) higher because I guess the regular rooms at CSR are booked.

The prices are very high because it's so close to sail away and your trip. Summer is a peak season for Disney. I would suggest going during a slow time like Sept, October, Nov. We've also gone during March. The temps are still warm although we found the Bahamas to be very humid in October and November.

Also during the slower times you are able to get a better hotel room rate, usually free dining for the Disney hotel portion (which saves a ton) It is going to be very, very, hot during the summer.

Anywhere you stay at Disney is a good place. I look at it like this. You are never in your room anyway and the Values are just as good as the MODs IMO. The Values such as POP have their own bus line. AOO is brand spankin new. You could save a ton of money that way.

DCL is a lot more money than other cruise lines but you will have the best time. Come over to the cruise boards and look over some trip reports. I have one too in my signature. We are all happy to help you as much as we can. :)

I just looked on DCLs website. The only rooms left on the June 20th cruise are verandah rooms. That is why it is so much. The June 6 four night has ocean view rooms left that would be about $1200 less. If you can go in May a 4 night in a verandah room is about $3500.
Any yes, as others have said the earlier you book with cruises the less they cost.

As for the WDW portion what is the TA including? Park hoppers? For every day including check in and check out? Dining plan? Which one? Are there regular rooms at a different moderate resort?

I just priced out a 7 night on the new Disney Fantasy for June and they are running $5,600 to $6,600! You could do a week for less than a 4 night! OP have you considered sipping WDW and just doing a cruise?

I was going to suggest this. Could you do WDW and then a non-DCL cruise? You can take a Carnival or Royal caribbean cruise for WAAAAAAY less.

We did get a quote for an 8 night and it was about the same price. This one left from NY (airfare may be cheaper for us to go to NY) but we don't want to do an 8 day for our first cruise!!! A little scared I may not like it. We did a 3 day in a SMALL cruise ship and were so ready to get off.

I'm going to suggest you go over to the cruise board here and Cruise Critic. That may help alleviate some of your fears.

But the 8 day out of NYC to Bahamas includes one day at WDW, including bus to and from. That is such a tempting cruise. We wouldn't have to pay for airfare because we live close enough to drive.

I'm hoping they offer it again in 2013

I hate boats and cruising, but DCL is soooo different than other cruises. Just like WDW is sooo different from other amusement parks.

This will probab;y not be a popular reply, but altho we loved our DCL cruise (we did land and sea, also), we were exhausted by the time we did the cruise part. We also chose doing it this way originally as we weren't certain how we would like cruising. Well, we found out we loved it, and our only regret is how expensive it was for the 4 of us. We have since cruised on Royal Caribbean's new ships as they came out (Freedom of the Seas, Liberty of the Seas, and most recently, Oasis of the Seas.) Much, much less money, even for the balcony rooms or suites, and much more for all of us to do on board. We loved the service and food on DCL, but I would never choose to return having been on Royal Carib since then. Love WDW and still vacation there, but the cruises will be with RCL.:)
