Trip report for land/sea July 21st- July 29th
Characters:
Myself Cristi, DH Brad, DD8 Rachel, and DS 6 Jacob
Land Portion:
We booked a land/sea through Disney with 3 day land and 4 days sea. We added on an extra day to the land portion to get more of the parks in. We stayed at Carribean Beach Resort for the land portion. It was a nice hotel, but I wouldnt stay there again. It was way too spread out. We were in the Aruba area and from our room to the food court and back was .45 miles (I had my pedometer on). That amount of walking on top of all of the walking in the parks was just too much.
Day One
Left Denver on 6:50 am flight. Had a layover in Atlanta, arrived in Orlando at 2:30pm. It was very cool to see our name on one of the signs from DCL. A nice CM helped us get our luggage and waited with us for the transportation to the resort. She gave us some good tips about what to do on the land portion. We were at the resort and in our room around 4 or 4:30. We went over to the food court for dinner ( had the worst pizza I have ever had in my life) and then headed off for MK for the evening. Got there around 6pm. It was VERY hot and Very crowded. The first hour we didnt have much fun, but then we found a less crowded area of the park. Highlights that evening were: Mickeys Phillharmagic Show (dont miss this show it was excellent!), kids loved Big Thunder Mtn. Railroad, and the fireworks show was awesome. Kids crashed on bus as soon as the lights went out.
Day Two
Made it to MK around 9am (couldnt get up early enough for early entry). Some highlights: all of the character greetings. We lucked out several times and ran into characters as they were coming to their greeting areas and were first in line. Snow White kissed DS on hand and he was thrilled. DD loved Space Mtn, we loved Buzz Lightyears Space Ranger Spin, Magic Carpet Ride, rode Big Thunder Mtn again. Around 3:30 we went back to hotel and had some rest and pool time. We went to Downtown Disney for dinner at Capt. Jacks. Dinner was very good, but it was unbelievably crowded, I wish we had stayed at the food court that night. Kids were asleep on the bus again.
Day three
Slept in a little and went to Epcot around 10:30 am. A big waste of time for us. Epcot would be much better for adults and maybe older kids. Back to resort at 3pm for a little rest and pool time. We went to MK for dinner and another evening of fun. Stayed for fireworks again. Kids asleep on bus.
Day four
Went to Blizzard Beach for about 3 ½ hours. Had a lot of fun there. It wasnt so much go, go, go. Then we went directly to MGM for a little bit. Did Star Tours there and that was a lot of fun. DS and I did Playhouse Disney Live while DH and DD did Voyage of Little Mermaid. We also got to meet Cinderella (DS got another kiss). We were back to the resort by 5pm. DH took kids to pool while I rested in the room for a bit. We just stayed at the resort for dinner and did a little laundry.
Day Five
AK in the morning before catching bus to port. Did the safari. That was pretty cool. Also saw Lion King and Bugs Life. Then on to the bus for the sea portion.
