First off I want to apologize if this topic has been covered numerous times but I am stuck on a very slow dial up connection today and to search would be painfully slow.
That said I would like some opinions as to whether my husband and I should take our 2 children (ages 4 and 7) to Disneyland or Disneyworld. We will be going for 7 days (2 days are travel). The 4 year old is too big for a stroller but would probably tire out after alot of walking. I have no concerns with the 7 year old.
We are also thinking of going in October or January. If anyone has opinions on which of these months would be better that would be great.
Also if we decided to go to Disneyland what are the best off site things to do with our kids?
Thanks for any help from an excited Mom!!

Honestly, with children that age, I would go to Disneyland. The Fantasyland there is just SO much better and there seems to be more for the younger set. I can't really help you on months as we went in August. Luckily it was not too busy but the parks were still open until midnight.

We did Knott's, Universal Hollyood, Magic Mountain, and a day in Hollywood seeing the sights. You could also do San Diego or Legoland.

As for hotel, we stayed in a view suite at the Carousell Inn. We had 5 adults so the room was great. It had 3 double beds and a pull out sofa so there was more than enough room for everyone. Plus, we had a great view of the fireworks out the window. For less than $160 a night, I thought that was a great price

The Disneyland board is a great help with planning a California trip

Thanks for your reply.
We were leaning to Disneyland from what we read. Does Knott's Berry farm have enough rides to keep our 4 year old happy? Their website makes it look like it is geared to older kids and adults.
How far was your hotel to Disneyland? We would like to stay as close as we can off site.

Could I ask where you're traveling from? To me, that may make a difference as to what to recommend.

We just had this discussion, and decided on DL since our last few trips were to WDW. DL has a MUCH better Fantasyland with more rides for the little ones. Plus at DCA there is a Bugs Land for little kids as well as a few rides scattered about like Jumping Jellyfish and King Triton's Carosel that's designed for them.

Knott's is a good choice. There is Camp Snoopy for kids under a certain height. There's a bunch of rides for the younger crowd. You just have to decide what kinds of rides interest you.

Being origionally from Ca the whole Hollywood and beach thing doesn't interest us so we're going to the La Brae Tar Pits instead. Basically it has dinosaur bones and things like that. Neither DH or I have been there in years. There is also the zoo and Sea World in San Diego. Ther eis also the Queen Mary, but yoour kids might be too young to enjoy it. ALthough there is an aquarium nearby I believe.
