Hi all,

Me again with another random question.

If you were buying an antique lamp on Ebay, how much would you expect to pay for freight? I know that it will cost me at least $25 to ship a lamp that I have so I have been hesitant to list it, but now I'm considering it. But I'm just so worried no one will bid because the freight is too much.

What do you all think?

Thanks!
Sheri

Okay....one thing you could do if you are worried about the freight charge is to include some of the freight in your lising price. If the freight is $25.00 and you were going to start your lising price at $25.00 maybe up it to $35.00 start price and put the shipping at $15.00?? Maybe a "buy it now" price that includes shipping costs, and list it as shipping included?? I'm sorry that's all I can think of.

That's a really good idea. I think I may end up doing that. I'm also considering offering local buyers to wave shipping and I'll just bring it to them myself. (It's an antique and probably worth a few hundred so I really don't want to see it get broken).

I think most people buying an antique lamp worth several hundred dollars wouldn't blink at a freight price of $25-$35.

We always state that shipping is ACTUAL shipping cost. After you have photographed it carefully go ahead and wrap and weigh it. If it is heavy you should probably ship UPS and not USPS. Then let the customer know the weight and they can go to ups.com to figure out shipping. We sell china and crystal so shipping is a big cost that you don't want to eat. Always put "Buyer pays shipping and insurance."
