Regarding the 8/10/11 news show item:

I would assume the reason that the Richard Petty Driving Experience is adding Corvette to their exotic driving experience package is probably due to the car's performance caliber and not so much for it being a super exotic.

The ZR1 model Corvette is considered to be in the top three performance cars of all production vehicles currently on the market.

Goggle "Nurburgring Production Cars" for verification, the Corvette ZR1 currently holds the number one lap time.

Also, for some, a chance to drive the American Sports Car is an enticing marketing point.

There, I feel better now.....

Sorry, I just got defensive.....

Shiny = Good

Shiny + fast = Better

See you soon.

can i vote for 'all of the above'?

i'd happily drive any of them....not sure i could handle any of them, but i'd love to try!! :goodvibes

I will gladly pay to drive a Lamborghini as that has been one of my most desired cars since I was a kid.

If they really want to impress me (who doesn't;)) I think they should add a Bugatti Veyron to the mix. That would be awesome!

There are a few production cars that have a faster lap than the Corvette. The Corvette is the fastest "AMERICAN" on that list though. The reason it is probably one of the choices to drive is its history in America. The love of the car from kids growing up and alot of family heritage. Now I am a little biased as I am a Ford guy, but growing up in America that was always a car you looked up to..yes I know a lot of kids always dreamed of Lamborghini & Ferrari, but Corvettes are as American as apple pie. At least in the auto world. So that is probably a good reason they chose that vehicle cause there are a lot more people out there that have dreamed of a Corvette.

I should have define "production cars" better, I meant to include the group of normally available factory vehicles, not the limited production or "one off" manufacturer's specialties.

The Corvette ZR1 is usually in that top three to five grouping, although top times get revised every so often as a new run is made by another manufacturer.

Still at $115,000 the ZR1 is an incredible bargain when it comes to bang for your buck.

But I wouldn't mind a Fort GT in my garage either......

I'm not sure but we went to a pizza place in West Bloomfield on Sunday and in the parking lot were a Lambo and a Ferrari...I was amazed.

Those cars are not one offs that are above the Vette, but I will agree they are specialty cars, but so is the ZR1. But that production car discussion holds a lot of grey areas. And there is a lot of arguments about that & the Nurburgring lap record since there is no sanctioning body doing this. And as far as the Ford GT goes...I would like an orginal GT 40 but not to crazy about the new one. I have driven both the new GT and the Shelby GT500 Mustang(which the GT shares chassis & drivetrain with) and for bang for the buck I would take the Shelby any day over the new GT.

was the ferrari a convertible?
there's a 60 year old guy who drives one in that neighborhood....i can't remember the color...maybe red?
and usually there's a gorgeous (and very young) blond in the passenger seat...

I will give you kudos on the Trans-Am but not the other two. lol. Don't worry I like a lot of cars that are non-American but just not to crazy about Italians. But hey if we all liked the same thing the world would be a dull place.

I actually made a deal with my wife that if I let her get a Pug (dog) should would let me get my Trans Am...Needless to say we have had the dog for four years but still no TA :sad1:

My uncle has a 78 that he is restoring right now. He is head body man for Richard Childress Racing(NASCAR) & is good friends with the engine builders so that is who is building his 400ci to put in.

I want to drive the Ferrari 458....no other car matters right now...its the Ferrari I lust after more than any other before it and many reviewers are saying it could be the best road car they've made.

Too funny, Frank!!

We listened to the show on the way to the airport and as soon as we heard that part, Chris said oh oh Frank isn't going to like that!!!
