Okay so i've beeen looking at some villas and found some good ones thanks to some recommendations. my question is if the villa has a lakeview (which means the screened pool has a lake right behind it) can that be scary??? i mean the only time we will go swimming in the pool is late at night, i rather have a fenced area or something? what do you guys think??

As long as the lake isn't called Crystal Lake and that you keep the screen doors closed in case any big lizards are passing by you should be OK!!!!

I think a lake would be great also. As deejay said you won't be overlooked by other people. I don't know where you're staying but most of the lakes that I've seen in these subdivision are what we'd call ponds. If I had my choice I'd pick the lake view.

I would also choose a lake view if I had a choice. The only scary thing to me is that I have little kids and I worry they would wander into the lake, but we don't let them play outside without one of us out there anyway. The screened in lanai are wonderful, you have nothing to worry about.
I am glad you have some good places. Be sure to come back and give us a review when you return. I am in the process of looking for next February and could use some advice.

Just remember that florida is filled with alligators, large and small. I read that any place where the water is large enough to hold an alligator, it means it probably does have a gator on premise.

Yes our once almost extinct Alligator has made a resounding come back. Most of those subdivisions do an active job of "policing" the gators out of the area but it can be a possibility. But at least it gives the gators a place to swim beside the pool!

I wouldn't let fido or kitty outside without checking first. No matter where I was at in Central Florida.

Found a small gator under a relatives car on the carport one morning after he ahd come in form working night shift. We think he was trying to get warm from the exhaust system. Oh and no lake close.

The "lake" at Windsor Hills has a iron rod fence around it, so if you are thinking of a renting a lake view home there, you will be fine. We rented a lakeview home and the only animal we saw was someone's cat who was wandering in our backyard. No gators!

My dbro has a fantastic shot of the resident in the lake at Windsor Hills, hes about 6 foot long and yes hes a croc, but dont worry as the above has said the lake has an iron fence surronding it

the home i was looking at (am looking at) has the lake RIGHT behind maybe 2 feet of grass? NO FENCE!! i think thats scary, the house is lovely but im so skeptical about the lake, you never know whats lurking around in those things- we woudl be swimming in the pool mainly at night and to see an alligator in the middle of the night would NOT be pleasent. hehehe :rotfl:
