A coworker and I were thinking of playing hooky one day next week and taking her 3 year old son to Lake Compounce.

I live less then 7 miles from this place, and haven't been to it since the I was maybe 12/13 years old. (so - it's changed alot!)

Is there alot for a 3 year old to do? (Or rather, enough to keep him entertained for at least half a day?)

What's a good day to go? (Monday - Friday?) Any thoughts on that?

Any other advice would be great! Thanks so much!

I'm pretty sure there is a kiddie section of Lake Compounce, but I don't know what the height restrictions for the rides are. They also have some shows there. I know Garfield is the "theme" character and I think he even makes appearances. There is also a waterpark section if he likes to get wet. They have a small mini-golf course too, but I don't know how well 3 yr olds do at that.

As far as the best day to go, I'm not sure...I usually go for company picnic-type functions so I don't know how crowded it gets during the day when it's open to the public.

Hope this is a little bit helpful. Here is the website if you wanted more information: Lake Compounce

shamelessly bumping my own thread

Thanks Stawberry Lemonade! (mmm...yum! heheh)

any other thoughts?

Hi, I live in South Windsor and just went with my cousins at the end of June (4 boys and 1 girl, 15 yrs - 4 yrs). It is a yearly thing for us.

With the heat we having been having lately, the water park is awesome. There is a pool for little ones (my cousin Sarah who is 4 LOVES the kidde pool) and a few slides also. There is also a section of child rides like the other poster said. There has to be 12 or so rides in that section for someone his age.

I think anyday is a good day to go. We went on a Tuesday and it really was not that crowded. Obviously it is less crowded during the week than it would be on the weekends.

Have a great time!

OT I have wanted to tell you forever and now I have the chance. I LOVE the picture of your dog. I always smile when I see that picture. Not sure if it is a male or female, but it has the sweetest eyes!

Actually we are going to Lake Compunce on Sunday for a company outting. We went last year and it was great. We went whenour kids were young and they had a great time. I think a 3 year old would love it. Have fun, Jay

Thanks so much!

To be perfectly honest, it's DH's company that takes us to Lake Compounce. Mine does nothing for us either. It sucks. I'm jealous.

We had our company picnic last year and loved it! My daughter loves it there and so do I. I didn't mind taking her by myself at all because there is plenty for toddlers to do there. The water park has really expanded.

My daughter, now 7, loved the dog show they did - made me watch it twice in one day. We enjoyed the other acrobat shows too.

Buy your tickets through AAA for the best prices. Enjoy!

any tips on going back n forth btwn the waterpark and the rides?
is it easy enough to get back n forth to your car?
hows the food prices?

Lake Compounce is relatively small, so going back and forth between the rides and the water park sections is easy. The water park is practically right next to the rides. There is a short walk from the park to the parking lot. Takes about 5 minutes depending how close you are able to park in the lot. I would try to get there early to park closer in. As for the food prices, expect the same prices as most other parks. The only thing is soda is free. There are dispensers all over the park. Have fun.

thank you - DS & I just spent the day there today - it was fun
Thinking next yr we may get a season pass

We went this past friday and had a BLAST!

It was a bit chilly out for the water park (and it was PACKED with campers)...the 3 year old would have gotten trampled...but we had so much fun.

I found the food prices to be quite reasonable as were the 'carnival games'. The free soda (and water) was nice too...I wonder how much they go through in a day?

All in all...it was much better to be THERE then at work on Friday! :) Shorter commute too! ONly took me 10 minutes to get there from my house...vs. my 40 minute work commute!

Are there also rides for older kids? My DH's company is based in CT and he has tried to talk me into going with him sometime, but I don't want to be stuck in a hotel with the kids while he is working (I know, there are other things to do, but it's been years since I've been through CT). His company is in Westport--where is Lake Compounce?

Thanks for the link! I'm trying to find the height restrictions on their website, but don't see them for most of the rides. Does anyone have a map that might list them? My 4yo is 43", but does not like kiddy rides. Says they go too slow! lol Of course at many parks the bigger rides have a 48" height restriction.

We went to Hershey Park last Friday and there were plenty of rides for him, plus a lot for our older kids. I realize that Lake Compounce is a small park, which is fine with me, and we love water play areas. Also, what about height restrictions on the water slides?

Thanks, T&B

the little boy i was with on friday is 43" tall.
he stuck mostly to kiddie rides (it was his first time EVER going on rides...so the kiddie ones were fine by him.)

apparently there is a 'kiddie' water play area (which we didn't go to - too chilly that day)

he went on a couple 'adult' rides...but he had to ride with his mom.

check this out:

Thanks, just what I needed!!! I wish sometimes that my guy wanted the kiddy rides, but my baby is growing up. sniff, sniff

we went this past Fri too and spent a little time at the waterpark
there is a seperate area with kiddie slides of different sizes

I guess that I didn't scroll down far enough on the map page to see the height restrictions. Duh! :teeth:

Stinkerbelle,

I am missing Jazz's picture already! Get up a new one quick!
I am so glad I saved her other picture. Hope you don't mind, but you said we could! ;)
