Lake City Fl or Tallahassee

Does anyone know of a decent cheap Motel in a safe area to stay in for 1nt around Lake City or Tallahassee FL that will accomadate 5? TIA

We stayed at the Staybridge in March, which is on the east side of Tallahassee, myself and my 15 year old daughter and her 15 year old friend. There is not much around as far as places to eat so you might want to eat before you check in. Pretty good breakfast, not memorable. It was near a nice lake. Very easy off and on the interstate. I think it was reasonable, not cheap.

It was certainly safe and clean, although my daughter did have an allergy attack at bedtime. She was fine the next morning.

I would love to find out other's input on this for the next time we drive and want to stop half way.

Lake city is a safer area...Tallahassee has had so much crime around their hotels in the past few years.Also right past lake city is the exit for live oak, they have a nice holiday inn express and it is a very tiny farming town...you will see a sign that says sheriffs youth ranch,get off at that exit...all that is there is the ranch (working ranch the boys take care of) and a bunch of cows, they do have some fast food places around the exit...alot of choices and a walmart.

Oh Thank you. I know exactly where Live Oak is. We have stopped there every year to get gas on the way to Disney and on the way back from Disney.

We stayed at a HOJO in Tallahassee for $50 back in May 2009. It was right off I-10 and the front desk was really nice. The A/C kept us cool as a cucumber. We will probably stay there again on our trip this fall.

I am not surprised to read this. We stayed at a La Quinta in Tallahassee back in 2002. Room was ok for the price, but I did not feel safe. I was traveling with at the time 13 year old son and 6 year old daughter. Way too much foot traffic going past our window during the night.
