Hello my disney friends

Question...has anyone ever stayed at the Lake Buena Vista Resort in Downtown Disney? We have an opportunity to go to FL in June. We are military, so I first tried getting reservations at the Shades of Green/Contemporary. No luck (although no surprise on such short notice). But they offered to get us reservations at LBV Resort for $89 a night. Couldn't tell that much from the website. Anyone have any info?

Thanks

Carol

Hi Carol!

We are military, too. We find great deals to be had at Shades of Green, but I'm not sure hotels are one of them. I'm assuming you mean the Best Western Lake Buena Vista Resort, and I've stayed at there. We got it on Priceline for $30 a night. My review was that at that price, it was a fabulous hotel. I put my ceiling on it at around $60 or so, thought. I don't know that I'd pay $89 per night. There are other reivews on www.biddingfortravel.com, which is a great site to help with Priceline, which is the way we go.

The hotel isn't that bad. If your comfortable with that price, you'll certainly not be angry with what you've purchased. The hotel is old and the rooms show wear, such as a drawer or two that doesn't pull out straight, and mighty flat carpets. But the place is clean, and the commons -- like the lobby, restaurant area, etc -- has been refurbished and looks great. The location is also fantastic. But I'm just not sure it's an $89 a night hotel. My opinion only, mind you.

If you do go, I highly suggest asking for a room 8th floor or above with a Downtown Disney view. The view is fantastic. And if you can get a corner room, the balcony is much larger.

If you want to consider options, I think there is a $65 rate right now at the Courtyard By Marriot Village at Little Lake Bryan, for military with ID. That was a great hotel, with a fantastic zero entry pool, etc. Although it's not in downtown Disney, it's just a stone's throw away from LBV Resort, and I think it's a better hotel. And I repeat, the LBV Resort isn't a bad hotel, and the location is great. I just think there's more hotel to be had for that rate, or equal hotel nearby to be had for less.

One Man's Opinion!

Thanks.

I, too, was thinking that $89 might be a bit high for what I saw on their website. I'm tempted to do the priceline thing, but I've never tried it before and the 'blind faith' aspect makes me a little nervous. I've started reading the biddingfortravel.com website and maybe once I read through it I won't feel so skittish.

I'll look into the Courtyard too. The pool is key in my family and that one sounds great!

If you are talking about the Wyndham Palace Resort and Spa Lake Buena Vista? I work for Wyndham and have been doing reservations for that hotel for 3 years, I know everything about it. Let me know if you have any questions, I can answer them!!!
