Lagoon View at the Poly?

First timer at the Poly. Just booked for early Decmeber. Our room is "lagoon view". The sweet lady who took my reservation could not tell me more than "a view of the lagoon".
Does that mean we can see the MK? Fireworks and all? Or just a view of the water?
I asked for a balcony room. We would love to be able to see something other than water.

I believe they are classified as lagoon view rooms and theme park views (I keep getting confused on that a bit though, but I think that's still correct). Lagoon guarantees some view of the lagoon, not necessarily the castle. Theme park guarantees some view of the park (may be the castle, but could potentially be Space Mountain more than castle). Some rooms don't see the castle well even if they look over the lagoon perhaps due to a tree, or the island in the lagoon. Check the Poly FAQ stickied at the top of this thread. There is some extensive info on the room categories & views.

I think the Poly has three levels of rooms: garden, lagoon, and Magic Kingdom. So a lagoon view won't guarantee a view of the castle.

For my money, the rooms that are the best deal are the Fiji garden view rooms, which on one side of the longhouse look out towards the Grand Floridian to -- a beach and a lagoon. Twenty steps from your patio and you can wiggle your toes in the sand and see the castle and the fireworks.
