Lady on cell phone "shushed" by 3 11 year olds!

I took my ds9 and dd11 to see Willy Wonka yesterday morning. DD happened to see two girls from school so they sat by us too. A few rows behind us sat a lady with about 7 kids. I'm thinking she had day care kids. That's fine. The kids were well-behaved. Toward the end of the movie this lady starts talking on her cell phone, in a normal voice! About the time I was going to turn around and say something the 3 girls turned around and all went "SSHH!!" at her. She got the hint and took her phone out to the lobby to finish her call. Yes, she left the little kids by themselves while she did this.
I couldn't believe 3 almost 6th graders knew more about "concert etiquette" than a grown woman.

Just goes to show that even kids have some manners. I wonder what the lady would have done of one of the kids that were with her walked away while she was on the phone? Some people don't think..

Most people are very rude on the cell phone, I have seen people checking out with groceries and paying while talking on the phone, one girl was placing an order at a fast food place and in between that talking on the phone..........IMO it is very rude to the person you are conducting business transactions with...........I'm sorry but I don't think that there are that many people that are that busy that they can't call someone back at a more appropriate time.

Have you ever noticed how loud some people feel they need to project their voice while on the phone? It's like they feel they have to impress people around them.
I cringe whenever my phone rings and cover my mouth with my other hand to "hush" the sound and try to get off the phone as quickly as possible before anyone notices me.

It is definately rude to use a cell phone in a theatre. I don't think anyone would disagree with that. I am not entirely comfortable with children "shhushing" adults however, no matter how much the adult deserves it.

When the adult is being more of a child than the children, I think a shushing is in order, no matter what the age of the shusher may be.

I couldn't have said it better. I own a cell phone but I only ever use it when I'm in the car because I don't feel it necessary to share my personal business with everyone around me in a public place. Or, I just wait until I get home to make a call. What did people do before cellphones?! It really makes me wonder as everywhere I go, I'm constantly overhearing other people's conversations or hearing those annoying things ringing. Enough already!

I agree with Chad.

There are many adults in this world who are far less mature and way more ruder than the children.

I don't like to see my children exhibit rude and disrespectful behavior back - but I have taught them that just because the other person is an adult does not always make him/her correct.

It sounds as thought the OP's daughter and her friends were polite but made their point.

I'm not sure why everyone feels the need to be connected ALL THE TIME.
10 years ago we all survived without having to be linked by cell phone every minute what has changed.
I get highly annoyed when I am some place trying to enjoy myself and I end up listening to a stupid conversation about nothing. For instance..... DURING Epcot fireworks....two ladies in front have to call someone RIGHT NOWWW... to talk about????? nothing.. "oh hi, .....yea, we're watching the fireworks now....can you hear them?......yea,..... yea, that was SO much fun!" And the purpose of that conversation was??????? Can we just turn off the phones and enjoy the day? does this constant cell phone-itis annoy anyone else?

Some people are so rude! DH and I finally talked my dad into going to a movie with us (his first in like 18 years) and some lady sat on hers through the whole movie. My dad vowed to never go to another movie again!

I am 14, and I will shhh you, your children who are kicking my chair, and your cell phone call. I am paying to see this movie just like teh other 60 people in here. I am going to get my money's worth. I will also move your foot off the back of my chair. If you don't agree, thats fine, But I'm paying upwards of 10 to be here, and I plan on enjoying myself. JMO.

Are you kidding?? why in the world not??...the kids have the same right to watch a movie in peace and quiet as an adult does! They are not "above" the children when it comes to manners etc! They should speak up and speak their piece if they have something to say, to an adult or not! I won't have my daughter thinking that adults are above her and she shouldn't stick up for herself even if its to an adult.
Yesterday in the movies both my 5 year old and myself shushed some rude woman that had her 2 year old in the theater along wit hher looked like around 5 year old..the older one was fine but the younger one talked for 20 straight minutes and she did NOTHING about it!
To top off that woman and loud kid the lady right across the aisle form me had the "Jimmy leg" and her leg was moving and making noise the whole time, couldn't shush that one though since she coudln't very well help that....

I think that's outstanding that the girls shushed her!! I Hate it when people talk on their phones (or to each other loudly, etc) in the theater. I'm Exctremely shy though and just can't bring myself to say anything. I hope I have kids that won't be too afraid to stand up to someone so rude (and do it, like they did, without being rude themselves!) BRAVO GIRLS!!
