Since you didn't know that a plugged tire is perfectly safe to drive on, I'd have been more than a little annoyed by the attitude. However, now that you know it is safe, I think I might just let it go, especially since he knows where you live. He actually provided more service than AAA requires, saving you a trip to the garage AND money on a new tire.
FWIW, I had a plug in one of my tires for 3 years before the tire needed to be replaced, and even then, the plug wasn't the problem. As long as you don't drive like you're on the NASCAR circuit, you should be just fine.
