Lady Bug Release & Maid Parade at Grand Floridian

Seems to me that this thread has gotten out of hand!
Thanks, Tammi, for putting it in perspective...

No one seems to get the point.
Maybe we're not looking at the same thread. Is it because not everyone is agreeing that you somehow feel we don't get your point? It's just that not everyone who responded shares your Gone with the Wind perception. I see 1851 and the Worlds Fair, or walking around the bandstand in an English park. Same picture, different viewpoints. I don't think either of us is wrong, we are all entitled to our opinion on how we interpret things. It certainly doesn't mean we don't understand.

I think the picture puts it in perspective. It looks cute. Very charming and Victorian. :confused3

We've never seen it, didn't have any opinion either way, now I think it's kind of cute. No issues here. I am one that doesn't get the point. :rolleyes1

Any job may have something a handful of employees may find less than pleasant. Part of the job. Suck it up or move on. I don't see anything unpleasant about strolling thru the beautiful GF grounds carrying parasols on the way to work. There are plenty of worse things out there......how about cleaning the MK bathrooms on a July day? ICK. That'd be demeaning to me.

No one seems to get the point. It is a reminder of a era of which we need no reminder (not upper class Victorian women) - never mind the title, never mind the union - it is offensive to some and seems demeaning.

It is even more disturbing that no one here understands.:sad2:
I get it. You don't like it. You think it is demeaning. It is "reminding" you of an era of which you would not like to be "reminded." Got it. Okay?

If it bugs you all that much, don't go.

I think it looks lovely. If anything, I'm reminded of My Fair Lady, not Gone With the Wind...although I like both movies very much.

I had no idea this even existed. I guess we don't pull ourselves together early enough in the morning to catch it. I will just take this opportunity to say that the housekeeping staff at the GF is truly outstanding, and they do an excellent job every day. These hardworking individuals are the best on property in my opinion. It's nice to come back to your room at 1:00 PM and it has been made up already. (The same can't be said about some other nearby deluxe resorts.) Not to mention the turndown service in the evenings. Great folks!

I agree. :thumbsup2 We've always had EXCELLENT housekeeping at the Grand. We've even had the same great housekeeper on a few trips & she remembers us and takes really good care of us with tons of extra towels and generous amts of toiletries.:goodvibes
