ok, so now for some thoughts on this trip.
This was a last minute, spur of the moment trip (atleast for us it was). We booked this trip 90 days in advance and I went into super planning, and saving $$$, mode to make sure we had the best "Quick Disney Fix" trip possible. We knew that we were planning our BIG 10th anniversary trip for 2010, so this was just supposed to hold us over until that trip. It was supposed to be a relaxing fun trip.
Well, it wasn't. At least not the way it was supposed to be. I went way overboard with the planning and trying to do as much as possible in 3 1/2 short days. It just can't be done. I knew ahead of time that we wouldn't be able to properly see everything, but i figured we could GLANCE at it all.

Nope, bad idea. We should have stuck with our original plan, and just relaxed and taken it as it came.
If I could do it over again, we'd only do 2 of the 4 parks. Our time in Epcot was so short!! We rushed thru future world, basically just seeing the Seas and the Land, then ran thru World Showcase just to ride Mexico and see Alice on the other side in UK. We didn't get to do any shopping, or the passports for the kids. We didn't get to do Mission Space, or Spaceship earth, or Soarin, or anythign in Innovations!
And we'd have skipped Animal Kingdom. Dh and I love this park, and our family is very into animals. We really wanted to do EE too. But it was the last day and even though we really did have all day, it was just a bad idea. We were tired before we even got to the park, and AK on the weekend is insane!! We should have skipped this, and played at the hotel pool or gone to DTD.
I think we were right to do MGM in 1/2 a day. Our kids were just too small for any of the big rides, and we have absolutley no interest in Star Wars, or Stunt Shows, or Indiana Jone shows. We went basically for the kids to see all the Pixar characters, for us to ride RNRC, and for Playhouse Disney. It was a great day, relaxed and fun.
For MK, I would have divided our days up between lands. Even with our touring plan (which we didn't follow exactly) we spent a lot walking around.
I've decided Magic Kingdom needs a 4 day trip all on it's own!! 1 day for Fantasy Land, Toontown and Tomorrow Land. 1 day for Adventure Land, frontier land and Liberty Square. 1 day to do nothing but see characters and watch shows. And the final day to do nothing but enjoy the scenery, main street, and SHOPPING!!
Things i've learned and will apply to our next trip, which incidently has been moved up to December 2009, instead of April 2010! So we go sooner!!

17 more months!
First - Try new restaurants!! While standing in a very short line for the boat in Mexico, dh looks out over San Angel Inn and says "why havent' we eaten here".

Well honey, it's a 4 day trip with over 400 restaurants to choose from. Give me a break!! So our next trip i want to try as many new restaurants as possible!!
2nd - Don't overplan!!! Again, i tried to cram so much stuff into that short little trip! And since our next trip is the land/sea package, again, we'll only be there for 4 days. Although i am thinking of adding an extra day, still, it's not a full week. Dh and I will be discussing what is essential to see, and what is just a maybe.
3rd - It's ok to take a Taxi!! Dh couldn't understand why i asked for a taxi to take us back to POP after dinner at GF the 1st night. It cost us $20. But if we had taken the monorail back to MK, walked down the ramp, over to the bus stop, waited for a bus back to pop (at 7pm as MK was closing) and ridden the 20 mintues back to the resort, we'd have wasted atleast an hour, probably 1 1/2 hrs!! So if you have the $$, go ahead and spring for the taxi. It'll save you LOTS of time!
4th - prepare children ahead of time for the walking. Both our kids rode in strollers this time, and it was fine. But next time, Dh says Jackie needs to walk. She'll be 6, and in 1st grade. He says she's old enought to walk around the parks. So we've already started cutting back on her stroller time. She walks around the mall and zoo now instead of riding. Once next summer comes around, we'll be walking around the neighborhood to get them used to walking long distances again!! It's hard work for adults to battle the parks all day! We want to make it as easy as possible for her!
I think that's about it!!
This TR was fun to do!! It really helped to write things down in planning, and remembering what we did! Hopefully i'll be able to do another one next year!!
