Ladies...question on shapewear

So my sis is in a wedding in a few months and while she's a beautiful, thin person (I wish I looked as good as she did), she thinks she wants to get shapewear so, in her words, "none of my rolls show." Honestly, while I haven't seen her in a swimsuit for a while, I just can't imagine that she has "rolls" anywhere.

She wants me to go shopping with her for "shapewear" and I have no idea what you even look for for shapewear.

Let's take the sizes...let's say you are a size 12. Do you pick a size 12 piece of shapewear, or do you pick a size 10 since you are hoping the shapewear will hold things in to make you a 10.

I know...odd question...but we are shopping tomorrow night (barring this snowstorm turning into a blizzard tomorrow) and neither of us have a clue!

You pick your size.

There are some things out there called "Spanx" that are supposed to be good. Only problem is they cut you off at the waist or the thighs and you can get a line or bulge there.

I read that Donna Karan makes a shaping pantyhose that comes us right under your bra, so there is no bulge anywhere. Don't know where you get it though.

Depending on what she is wearing for the wedding, she might look at a really good under-thing store. You can sometimes get a single piece that is both shapewear and supportive so you have even flow from bustline to thighs... It would be where I would start.

I'm a huge fan of shapewear. I think everyone shoud wear it under formal clothes. Does she have her dress yet? That would obviously come first. I personally like Spanx but Christine is right that they can cut at the waist so you can get a buldge there. I have the kind that goes to right below the knee so that eliminates the thigh bludge.

Depending on the dress the ideal piece would be from below the bustline to right below the knee. The do make all-in-ones that have built in bras. I like a seperate bra since I need some 'lift' and the one pieces tend to squish (think sports bra) rather than lift.

I'm wearing Spanx right now and LOVE them!! They have a new one (one I am wearing) called "Higher Power" and it is from mid-thigh to just under your bra. I have plently of *rollage* but no icky bulges with the Spanx

This is the type that your sis will need.

Thank you everyone! I appreciate all your tips. I went to the Spanx website and I am so getting one of these Higher Power things for myself too!

...and just like everything else... you can get Spanx on eBay, too...
