Ladies: Purse, backpack, fannypack or ??

I really like the idea of having my hands free, but am wondering if I'm going to want to have water with me all the time.

I use a fanny pack and then have a Disney "strap" that is made to hold a water bottle. It is a long strap with an adjustable loop on the end to put around the top of the bottle. That way if you don't have a bottle the whole time you can just put the strap in the pack. They used to sell them at the carts where you get water for $3. I haven't been in 3 years so maybe someone else can let you know if the straps are still available and how much they are.

I like hands free too, but there are certain things, not
many, that I want to have with me. My fanny pack is
simply too small for mini wallet, keys, digital camera,
brush, lipgloss, cigs (yep I am one of THOSE-sorry)
bottle of water, cell phone. So I am bringing a mini -mini
back pack, which is the perfect size, not big as to
weigh me down, or have me accidentally knocking things
or other people  It took me a REALLY long
time to find one though..finally got it at walmart for a
whole $7.00 on clearance! :Pinkbounc DH :smooth:
though, will be wearing his fanny pack, so we are
all set!! :cool1:

Last time we went I used a small purse with a long strap to go across my body. This time I'm seriously considering a fanny pack - please don't tell my kids! It's embarassing to even think about let alone do. It's just that it'll leave my hands free. But, it looks like I'll be in good company.

I used a backpack purse. Each of my daughters also had small backpacks, and because we rented a stroller each day, we could put our drinks right in that. We were there in Dec., and ALOT of people left things in their strollers-I just wouldn't leave anything of real value in one! WDW is a wonderful place, but...

Mrslur... why didn't you like the purse with long strap across your body? Just curious.

I tried the little purse with the long strap once, didn't like it. So, I bought a Disney fanny pack, and I've been using it for my trips to WDW ever since. It has perfect little pockets for passes and such. I carry our digital video camera around my neck, and our trip last August, I found an insulated bottle carrier (it came with a 32 ounce bottle, but the 24 oz water bottles fit well). DH carries the backpack with our ponchos, sweaters, walkie talkies and his camera gear. So another vote for a fanny pack. :wave2:

Fanny pack for me. And diaper bag / back pack for the kids (stuffed in the stroller)

I carry a small back pack....I keep my camera, raincoat, park tickets, etc inside it. It is so much easier to carry around...plus I keep my disney pin collection on the back!

add me to the "fanny pack that I'd never be caught dead with anywhere but WDW!" crowd.

Have one that fits just what we need, plus a little side spot for a bottle of water. DH will even tote it around for me.... It's nice to have hands free, no weight on my already-sore back, and also I worry with backpacks that it's easier to pickpocket since I can't see behind me. Just my 2 cents!

My DH selected a small backpack from Walmart last year for our digital camera. I started carrying it and it was so much more comfortable to carry than my purse. I packed my purse in the luggage and started using this small backpack everywhere during our vacation last year. It has wider straps than the normal backpack purses I have seen. I'll definitely use it again this year. I finally felt free from holding my purse all the time. It cost about $6. :earsgirl:

I have a Fanny Pak, I like having money, keys, and fast passes RIGHT THERE! But DD wanted her wand, and crown, and of course in July we needed water... so DD got a tote bag from her fairy godmother (um me and wdwFlorist!) I carried it , it's black, and embrodered WDW 2004... it was perfect for us!! (ok I fess up, I had thought DH would bring his backpack and carry all that .... c... JUNK!!)

It worked better than I expected!

Small Backpack that is used as a one strap backpack-the kind that goes across your body. That always works best for me. I cant stand the fanny packs-its just me and who wants to carry their purse?

I have always used a Fanny Pack at WDW.....

I am bringing it this year..... BUT>> I am going to try my LLBEAN Teardrop one shoulder backpack bag. It will hold my camera, my water etc. I hope it works!

Waist pouch for both me and DH. We found the ones we use at one of those gift shops in Kissimmee several trips ago. They have pouches for water bottles and separate compartments for our "stuff". Nice and handy and no back aches at the end of the day.

At various times in my 10+ year WDW addiction I've tried all of the methods listed above for carrying my stuff into the parks. My favorite is without a doubt the fanny pack. It doesn't get in my way, I can't put it down and leave it, I can carry all my necessities, money, meds, sun screen, tickets, charge cards, poncho, etc., and still not feel weighted down. I just bought a new "model" fanny pack. It is made by Coach (on sale at a military BX) that converts to a shoulder bag when I don't want a fanny pack. It is a great. I'll be using it in just 20 days. If this thread is still alive, I'll give a report when I get back.

Small back pack, need to take one because of the stuff I need to take.

The past couple of times I have used a fanny pack. It worked out great. Its a nice change from having to carry a purse around. :)

I always carry my backpack. I can fit more in it. :cheer2:

I'm making my first trip to WDW in June. For you experienced visitors, what is your preferred way to carry your necessities, and why?

Fannypack, also called a waistpack. I have one that I have been using for years. Do not have the zippers on your "fanny" as anyone could try and pickpocket you. Keep it turned so it is in front of you.
