How many of you have become pregnant after having a tubal liagation? I had my tubes tied 4 years ago, after my 3rd baby. DH (well actually my ex-husband):rolleyes1 had a testicular hernia and lost a testicle, and now i'm two weeks late for my period, plus my breasts hurt! Crap!

So, what are the chances:sad2:

Why don't you just take a pregnancy test and find out? :confused3

Yes, women have become pregnant after a tubal ligation, it's rare, but it happens.

Hope it works out for you.

Were your tubes tied right after delivery (vag) right after delivery c-section or 6 weeks later? If it is the 1st then yup you might be pregnant if it's the last 2 you have a better chance of not being pregnant because statistically the last 2 have a much better success rate.

I had them "tied" about 6 weeks after I delivered. It was supposed to be immediately after but as with the entire pregnancy there was confusion with the dr's and it was never done. Finally I said the heck with it, let me out of this hospital. So I went back to do it.

Yes I should just go out and buy a test, but those suckers are like $10.00 and Murphy's Law (which would be an awesome thing in this case) is that if I spend that $10.00 I'll get a visit from my friend

Do you have a Dollar Tree? They have pregnancy tests there for $1. Walmart has some cheaper tests too. I've used them several times...been trying for baby #2 for over 2 years so I know pregnancy tests!

YES you can....

I had a friend from aerobics class who had her tubes supposedly cut and burnt after her 3rd child (her two older kids were in high school and the 3rd was kinda unplanned and she was already 41)...

Fast forward two years and she got really sick and thought she had the flu. She went to the dr's and wasn't sick but she was pregnant.....

I met her little miracle baby soon after she was born. Cute little thing...

My sil has had 4 positive pregnancy tests since her tubal ligation. Because she is unable to carry a baby to term do to a malformation, she has also has 4 miscarriages. It can happen.

Yikes!! I would think after the first time her husband would go get a vasectomy or she would use a back up birth control.

She can't use birth control. Her dh won't get a vasectomy. Says it's not manly.

oh no way.. than he would not be getting any sex. I couldn't imagine that. I would think 4 miscarriages are taking toll on her. I don't understand why men end up acting like such babies when the V word is brought up. I gave birth to 4 kids.. I was not going to have my tubes tied.. hubby went in for vasectomy with no problems. Honestly, if he told me it wasnt manly he would be lout the door.

Really. I had three children/4 pregnancies. After our last child was born in June 2002, dh promptly went for a urologist visit. 6 years later and no scares for me. She's had 4 scares in 8 years. That's just plain wrong.

When i wanted to stop the depo-shots last year....DH had said he would consider a "TV" (the vasectomy).

However, after i read that disclaimer part about all the possible side effects or possible lack of function of DH afterwards  .... we decided on a different course of action....

I got a copper IUD... So far so good... I figure it's good for another 6 years and by then i may only need one more to get me to menopause so I'm good with that....

Yes, I did! I had a tubal ligation done during my c-section and when DD was 20 months old I began to feel ill. After about 1 week of just not feeling right, I in a fleeting thought wondered when I had last had my cycle, and I could count back to 10 weeks ago, so it crossed my mind that it could happen. So, I took a left over test and before I could set it on the bathroom counter to wait my required 5 minutes it had a great big ol' + sign in it. I got that uh oh feeling in my stomach. I thought DH was going to kill me, but it didn't last, I had a miscarriage 3 weeks later. It just wasn't meant to be, and I eventually had to have a hysterectomy for other reasons. So, yes it happens I'm living proof!!

We didnt even wait for the 4th to be born:lmao: I was 5 months pregnant when he had his done.. I wasnt taking any chances.. especially since I was 5 months pregnant and had an 8 month old.

Are you happily single because you still have sex with your ex? And to answer your question, I have not gotten pregnant after my tubal (10 years ago) but I know another teacher in my building who did.

Absolutely yes! My mother had a tubal and then she got pregnant with my brother 2 years later!
Just go get a test!

Of course, you could be. Doctors do mess up for one thing. If you happened to get a doctor opposed to birth control, it is possible that this wasn't even a mistake.

If a tubal ligation is done properly, there is an increased risk of having ovum implant in the tube. That, of course, results in a very dangerous pregnancy.

What? Are you trying to say a doctor would pretend to do surgery? That's crazy! Do you have any proof of that???
