Ladies or Gents..do you wear lipstick?

Lipstick, only if we are going out and I am wearing makeup. Otherwise, nothing. I admit I am clueless when it comes to makeup, so I'm wondering, what is the difference between lipstick and lip stain?

Sigh.
I wish I had lips to wear lipstick.
I wear Burt's Bees and it does have a bit of color.
I also wear protective lip gloss when in the sun.

Ds always uses Chapstick, and so did my Grandpa.
Chapstick reminds me of him (although he used the black tube and ds uses the blue tube).

Not on a daily basis. If I'm dressed up or going out I'll toss something on.

But my hair gets stuck in it enough that it's annoying so I just go without. I chapstick the heck out of my lips though.

Lipstick can be wiped off easily. Lipstain can't, it actually stains your lips for a few hours. I can eat and wipe my lips and the color stays. Lipstain is longer wearing.

Lip stain is a liquid or watery gel that you blot on your lips; it contains synthetic or natural dyes that stain them. The effect is sort of like if you'd just eaten berries, depending on the color of the stain, of course.

The plus is that it lasts hours, and doesn't come off as much when you eat or drink, though again, that varies by the brand. And I guess it's supposed to look less artificial, as there's no lipstick or gloss visible. The downside is that they tend to be very drying, a lot of them contain alcohol.

I've tried several, I don't care for them. They emphasize every single line on my lips, and make them look parched. I also find them uncomfortable to wear because they're so drying and irritating.

That said, if you wear lip stains or just want to try them, I'd strongly recommend the Cynthia Rowley Cream Lip Stain that a PP mentioned. It's less drying, so much more comfortable to wear, and I think it's more flattering because it doesn't sit in the lines on your lips. Definitely the best of the lip stains, IMO.

I actually wear a dual stick/stain by IT cosmetics. It isnt drying at all but I agree most of them are very drying.

I wear lipstick, or gloss, or tinted balm, every day. I prefer neutrals, since I like a natural makeup look.

M.A.C. lipsticks are the best I've tried. I've got one that's sort of a deep dusty rose that's my go-to for when I want to look my best.

Stila lip glazes are sort of between lipstick and gloss. Creamier than a lipstick, but more opaque than a gloss. They come in a nifty applicator pen with a built in brush, I love them.

For glosses, I love the ones Julep makes. They're not super-shiny like the glosses we wore in high school, just a little shine and nice sheer neutral color. They're not sticky at all. I call it a grown up lip gloss. :)

I like Nivea's "Touch of Care and Color" best of all the tinted balms I've tried, it's super-moisturizing.

I haven't worn any since my wedding in 1996. My mom talked me into some for that day, and it did look fine, but it's just not my thing and it seems high maintenance with all the reapplying. Chapstick is fine.
