Ladies-only Valentine Sent/Received thread-COMPLETED

Would you believe I have had a hard time shopping for this one? We just don't seem to have a great Valentine section at any of the stores I have checked out.

I'll be going out again tomorrow to try a few more stores...

I had problems too! I hope I did OK.

Mine went out UPS ground this morning!:goodvibes

I'll be sending out reminders to everyone tomorrow that Monday is the mail-by date.

I had fun with this one!! I know the girls are super excited too. :yay:

Easter is April 8.....:rolleyes1
I am thinking of starting sign-ups for an Easter basket exchange sometime in March. I am just not sure if it should include kids or not.

On the one hand, it's fun for the kids. On the other hand, they usually already get something for Easter. I mean, most kids get a basket just like most kids get a Christmas stocking. Right?

It's us moms/aunts who get could use a fun Easter basket surprise. ;) So, as of right now I am kind of leaning towards making it an adult only one.

But I'd like some opinions if anyone has any advice.

I love Easter and did the one on the CB last year. I got the cutest stuff in that. :goodvibes
I'll also be hosting the flip-flop exchange on the CB again this year and that starts in April.
I think the easter one I would exclude the kids on. Just mho. :confused3

Beth, I actually was able to get my package out today. DH took it to work to mail it off from there. It is priority and DC.

I had some problems finding things for my DS's name. We were however able to find something in the color. :woohoo: Hope that our people enjoy their goodies!

I think so too about the Easter one. I think that they kids will already be getting treats and baskets from the "Easter bunny" and won't need anymore.

Now us adults on the other hand could use a fun Spring pick-me-up.

Yeah... also (I think someone suggested this already), but maybe for the Easter one if people would like more healthy snacks we could add a question like that to the sign-up list? :confused3

Okay here's where we are so far today.

Out of 24 total exchanges (includes kids and adults) I have 15 that have been sent. :thumbsup2

I have another 5 packages that will be a bit late. I've heard from their senders.

So that leaves 4 packages to go out or for me to hear from the sender.

Not too bad. :thumbsup2 :cool1:

Thanks ladies!! :)

Good idea. I actually didn't send out much candy this time around. I was lucky and able to find more trinkets and such.

For the Easter basket exchange I did on the CB, I got great things. Bath items from Bath and Body Works, little candles in different scents from Yankee candle, a magnetic note pad, some note cards for mailing and some cute stamps, etc.
It was all packaged nicely in a pretty basket. And of course there were a few treats thrown in but I was pleasantly surprised. LOL

So, there are things you can do and they don't all have to be sweets and you can vary the price range depending on where you shop. :thumbsup2

I'm quoting you again, lol, because I just remembered that Christine posted on the thread about doing an exchange for those who will be participating in Kat's WISH program.

That would be fun. I'd do that. There are lots of things you could send, low cal snacks, motivational items, exercise tips or books, a journal to keep track of how you are doing and what you've eaten, etc.

I think it would take more thought, but it could still work. Next time I'm out and about I am going to keep an eye out for stuff that would work for an exchange like that. And it wouldn't have to be all diet stuff. Some items for just pampering yourself and feeling good about yourself would be nice as well.

Okay, my three exchanges went out late today, so they might not be mailed until tomorrow. But I dropped them off at the post office this afternoon!! Hope everyone likes the stuff. The kids and I had a blast shopping for this! :goodvibes

We have our first arrival!!!!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Lindsey's package from Joanne's DD Danielle arrived today! I am not opening it yet, I'll let her do it when she gets home from school around 4:45.

I'll post again once she opens it!! :yay:

Okay Lindsey just opened her package. She was thrilled to get something in the mail. :yay:

This is what she got from Danielle.

A cute black bag/backpack with words like rock star on it in pink.

Inside the bag was:
a stunt ribbon to twirl (the cat thinks that's his new toy!!)
a Belle keychain
a Kitty Valentine book
a Slinky Jr.
a keychain that says It's a Girls World, We Just Let Boys Live In It (lol)
a velvet Princess coloring cut-out with little markers
a cute little stuffed bear and purple puppy (she will most likely sleep with those tonite!)
a heart shaped coin purse with $2 inside (she has more cash then I do now! lol)
a pink/purple bracelet and necklace
another necklace chain that you can add charms too
some candies including Kissables, M&M's, and some Sweettart hearts
and a create your own edible jewelry kit.

She loved everything!! :goodvibes You really made her very happy!! :thumbsup2

A huge thank-you to Danielle and Joanne!! And Happy Valentine's Day (early) to you both.

P.S. I took her pic with all the stuff after she opened it. I don't know how to get the pics from the camera to the computer and into my photobucket though. So I will post it tomorrow or late tonite after Ruben gets home. :)

Glad she liked it Beth.
Shopping for little girls is so much fun. :cool1:
The Princess store where I got the bag had such nice stuff.

She was close to getting clothes too. But Danielle thought it
crazy to send that.

Sounds like a great package. This is my favorite part of exchanges--seeing what everybody got!

The package from Alyssa went out yesterday, I just forgot to post ! OH and for her recipient, if you're looking for the card, it's here on my dresser

Card?? I was suppose to send a card? :rotfl:

Sorr about that Beth and Lindsey.

I have to agree about the easter ones Adults only.... And you can put a wish list in there too if you like junk food; healthy food; no food....

Also for the kids have you ever done a beach toys one? Say in May do a sand toys; pool toys; outside toys.... Just an idea. I'm still new to this so i'm not too sure....

Day late but got mine out today!!!!
Better late than never!! Thanks!! :thumbsup2

Okay, Easter one will be adults only. I was kind of leaning that way already, just wasn't sure.

Last time we did a summer exchange which is kind of like what you are talking about. Anything for summer.
That is something we could do and have it include kids and adults. :thumbsup2

And I think end of May would be a great time to set that up. With the ship date sometime in June. Try to give about a month and a half to two months between exchanges so people will have some breathing room. :rotfl:
