This is an odd question, but has anybody ever successfully returned a bra? I bought one at Dillard's last week that seemed really nice in the store. But after wearing it all day it was very painful and part of the wire was rubbing a blister onto my sides. I want to return it, but the policy states that it must have a tag and obviously the tag has been removed. If I can't return it, it's not the end of the world. But I really don't want to spend all that money on a bra that I can't even wear.

I would try, the worse they can do is say no. Could you contact the maker of the bra? Maybe they would help.

You said ladies only, but my wife got a HUGE bra as a gag gift one year and had no problem returning it for a store credit...

I've never returned something that I've worn all day, unless there was some obvious defect.

Go talk to them. They want you to be happy, and would probably let you exchange it.

If you're going to be at the mall anyways, give it a try. The worst they can say is no. But honestly, Dillard's is pretty strict with their returns, and if you go back to the same person that rang it up for you than your chances of return drop a lot because of their stupid "commission" based sales. Did you not try the bra on before you left the store?

Might not help with this purchase, but do you have a Nordstrom near you? I get all my bras there. First, they have professional fitters. There is a good chance if you are getting chafing/blisters etc that it is not a proper fit. Also, they have a wonderful return policy, so even if you wore it, you could return it if you are having problems.

What does your sales slip say regarding returns? I worked retail yearsssss ago and people return everything and anything. I do not think it would hurt if you took it back and tell them you had NO intentions of returning it BUT that it is hurting you. Tell them to exchange it or give you a merchandise credit. Sometimes stores are uneasy about giving the cash back...but it is a comfy bra that you want. Good Luck.

OT

I was in Victoria's Secret at Xmas time. I purchased 2 nightshirts but got the wrong size. I actually did not like the quality of them, very thin for the price. While buying them they gave me that free "cupcake" promo which was a pair of thong undies. When I returned the nightshirts the clerk asked me for the cupcake BACK. I told her that I did not bring that with me. I did not think they would want THAT returned. She got her manager to approve the return of the nightshirts w/o the cupcake.................NOW THAT WAS ODD. They wanted the undies back.................:scared:

I would contact the manufacturing company of the bra.

I agree with this. I'm not familiar with Dillards but if it's upscale and specifically says no lingerie returns without tags, you're probably out of luck there. (Still worth a phone call to the manager though!) Even if it felt comfy in the store, it seems to me it's some sort of defect if you can feel the underwire rubbing to the point of blistering. Definitely worth an email/call to the company that made it.

I would go ahead and bring it back, it's worth the shot. Just out of curiosity what brand was the bra? Certain brands run differently in sizes.

That being said I know in my prior life as a lingerie sales associate, the policy with bras was to take it back as long as it was clean. Bras are just one of those things that can be tough to break in.

Dillards is pretty strict about not allowing returns if the undergarment has been worn, thank god. The last thing I want, is to buy a bra that someone has sweated in all day.:crazy2:

I'd say go talk to the people at the store and, if that fails, contact the manufacturer. I've found that often, even when you totally don't expect it, companies will bend the policies to ensure that you're a happy--and repeat--customer.

If they don't let you return it you might want to try one of those bra extender things if you think it is too small.

One of the reasons i shop at Vickys is because they will except returns on bras...even if you've worn them. I've had them fit and feel nice in the store, only to wear them working all day in a restaurant, and it just doesn't work out for me. They take things back, no problem.

I think you should try to take it back, the worst they could say is no. :thumbsup2

Afraid I would be a bit skeeved out regarding the returns. Either:
1) They take the return, give you your money back and throw the bra in the bin because it is definately used & not hygenic - if it has rubbed enough to give blisters, then just think of all those skin cells on the band; or
2) They take it back, put a replacement tag on it and try to pass it off as new to somebody else.

Sorry, you might be a nice person but I do not want your dead skin cells around my ****ies

I do not think I would exchange a bra, especially after wearing it.

I can't even imagine thinking about returning a bra that I've already worn for a full day.
