Ladies Only Question - Perimenopause??

MAKmom said:
I was going to try the Liberty Tree character meal for the 1st time this year!

HOw old is the thread?

Oh, I've made little snide comments about the LTT for the past few days.

Most people love this place--I'm one of the few dissenters.

i'm 42 and I've have peri symptoms for about a year. My cycle is all over the place, and I spend weeks PMSing. Hot flashes, too. Plus I have reading glasses all over the house.

I guess if there's any good news it's that I'm already a year in so I only have 9 to go :Pinkbounc woohoo.

The reading glasses are just our age right. I have cateracts at 43.

DO you really have hot flashes? Isn't that at menopause? yikes

I am 43 and have had these symptoms now for about 4 years. Also, I sweat under my breasts and my feet are burning hot during the middle of the night. I keep a big bottle of lotion and a small hand towel by my bed for this :rotfl: I toss and turn all night. One night it was so bad, my boyfriend woke up and grabbed a bottle of water he had on his side of the bed and poured cold water in his hand and rubbed it on my feet to cool me off. It helped and I was able to sleep the rest of the night.

It's a miserable thing; I was hoping to be like my mom. She told me that one month, she just stopped. :woohoo: Gee, mom that must be nice

Last month my period was 3 weeks late, but the week it was due I had hot flashes instead. Every night for a week, only in the late evening. I don't know, maybe it was something else, but I never felt anything like that before :sad2: .

I typically read all I can about health issues that come up, but I've barely read a thing about menopause. Maybe if I don't know what to look for I'll miss it :rotfl: .

This reminds me of something my Mother did to me on my 40th Birthday.

She gave me a book on Menopause! Is'nt that a crazy thing to do to a woman on her 40th? I was'nt real happy about 40 it could have waited a few days. :confused3 Everyone was horrified. My SIL took a week off work & cried when she turned 40.

I was over at the Power-Surge forums yesterday on the perimenopause board and "burning feet" was a topic of discussion!!

Okay, here I am 41. Went thru an early menopause at 34. I went from one year of having a cycle every other month to nothing. I went to the doctors and they tried to "force" a cycle by having me take progesterone for 10 days, the worst 10 days of my family's life :rotfl2: I could have bit bullets in half!!
finally after the 3rd cycle of this, it wouldn't work any more. My doctor finally checked my levels and determined I was THRU menopause. I should also say that at this same time I was diagnosed with thyroid issues and they feel that one effected the other.
As to symptoms, I feel that my thermometer has been broken. I am either freezing (sometimes on a summer day) or hot(not hot flashes, constant heat). At night, my skin is itchy in a different spot every few minutes. I went on HRT for 1 year and then when all those bad results started hitting the news I stopped. I don't feel a difference without them.
My headaches haven't been affected by menopause. I have enjoyed not being "visited" once a month!! Because I had such an early menopause, I have to have bone density scans earlier for osteperosis but other than that I'm :teeth: !!

Well, it looks like my very slow and delayed "guest" has finally shown up this morning (I think--it could all be a trick). So, hopefully I'll get some relief by tomorrow.

On top of it all, my DS woke up in the middle of the night with a fever, sore throat, stomach ache so I had to take off work today (darn :teeth: ). I'm sure my co-workers are glad. :teeth:

I've been home all week with 2 kids with 102 & 103 fevers & DD11 has laryngitis. to top it off my friend came 2 days ago unexpected & now I know who uses those super plus tampons

I am 43, and I had an endometrial ablation last year because of irregular periods. They were arriving every 20 days or so and were not welcome.

Since the ablation, I have not had a period, and it also completely got rid of l PMS as well as all perimenopausal symptoms. I highly recommend this easy, outpatient procedure. :Pinkbounc

I feel like a new woman :)

Yup - "been there done that.." I went through menopause early (48) and although it's totally irrelevant to your original question, did you know that women who are left-handed typically go through menopause several years earlier than women who are right-handed?
I didn't know that! I am left handed 50 yrs old and i think i am done with my monthly. Haven't had it for 8 months now, and before that it was just one litttle spot in 7 months. I still get a few hot flashes but not as much as i use to.

It's your friend back in the days when you're petrified of getting pregnant! There were some times that I was mighty glad to see her arrive! :rotfl:
