OK...I have some questions for the ladies out there. I just turned 35 a few weeks ago and have noticed some 'changes' a few months a go. I am not sure if this is normal or not. My cycle has gone from 7 full days down to 2 days, this has gone on for the last 2 months. I am getting severe 'craps' in my lower back. What the heck??? Is this peri menopause? Could this be something else? Just how do you know you are going through peri menopause? Please...somebody help me with this. I am worried.

I started noticing some minor changes in my mid to late 30's. When did your mother start her menopuase...mine was pretty young, so I figure I'll go pretty young too.

Chances are your cycles & body chemsitry is starting to change a bit.

I would say that there is a hormone issue going on and it *could* be perimenopause starting (it's definitely not unheard of at your age). But, menstrual changes in the 30s tend to be very subtle. The changes you describe seem to be abrupt and not-so-subtle, but certainly indicative of some type of imbalance. I think I might wait and see what one more cycle is like and then make a GYN appointment. I remember when I was noticing weird changes, my GYN wanted me to "chart" them for several months and then see how it went.

Could be, but only your doc can tell you for sure. I just turned 40 and have been in perimenopause for 2 years now.

Now if the doc could just tell me when it will end...!!!

My dr. did blood tests which confirmed it by the hormone levels etc. and he also asked about my mom, which was very early, so he said it would be very early for me too.

:rotfl2: :lmao:

Sorry. I know that was just a typo, but wow did that hit a nerve. I can't stop laughing.

FWW, I am really sorry about what you are going through. :grouphug:

I just turned 40 this month & got my period this week for the first time since June. I was hoping it would NEVER come back!! My doctor said my hormones are out of whack but that I was not starting menopause because I have no other symptoms like "hot flashes". I'm still hoping that maybe this is my last one. BTW, my mother hit menopause at 44.

I'm almost 34, but I'm experiencing the same thing! It only lasts 2 or 3 days lately. And I've been having a tiny bit of spotting about a week before. :confused3

Thanks guys...its so weird. My sister is 50 and is goign through menopause right now. I think my mom went late, she had me at 41 y.o. . My other sister, 53 y.o., is also going through menopause now. She had children up until she was 44 yo.

I have noticed that I am a bit hormonal lately. My irreg. periods are what kinda have me worried. I was always a 28 day person, minimal cramps and no PMS. I have been lucky, but they were very heavy at times. Now, they are every 18 to 20 days, going 2 to 3 days , tons of lower back cramps and light.

I have several nieces who are in their 20s who have ovarian cysts. My mom nor my sisters and I have them. I have a niece from each sibling who has had to go to the ER due to the severity of them.

I was told my my ob/gyn 16 years ago that I had endometrosis, but never had any problems whith my periods. Could it be catching up with me NOW???? I have no children, but have miscarried before.

My mom had a hysterectomy when I was 18 mos old so no help there but I'm 36, had a hysterectomy at 33 and am now starting with the hot flashes and mood swings. Progestrone cream has been my salvation!!! It took the hot flashes and the moodiness away!!!!

I've been reading some books too that have helped a ton!!!! I can't help with the periods since I've been period free for almost 4 years but the hot flashes and weight gain and moodiness definitely are a sign that I'm starting down the road.

I am also headed that way too. :sad2: My mom had a hysterectomy at a young age, so there is no way to gage that either. But at 44 I am thinking I will be in full swing menopause any day now. The worst really is the hot flashes.

I KNOW!! The progestrone cream is working wonders!!! My mom never went through menopause so I'm on my own so to speak. My mil has gone through it so she is a HUGE help since she also refused HRT's! The Progestrone cream has been a GODSEND!!!! Emerita progestrone has been awesome!

This is a stupid question. I am 48 and thinking I am perimenopausal. My DM had hysterectomy so I cannot go by her history. How can you tell if you are having a hot flash. My body thermometer is out of whack. When I am hot, DH is chilled. I feel I am always warm-blooded. Is this part of it? My periods are starting to get irregular also. What do my DIS docs think?

OOO...believe you me, the FIRST time you have one, you will KNOW immediately because they are NO fun at all :furious: ....You get soooo HOT :furious: and it can last for seconds to minutes on some :furious: ...but even the SECONDS feel like HOURS. :furious:

If you are 48 yo and have not had a Hot Flash consider yourself VERY LUCKY. :goodvibes

Would waking up completely pitted out fall under this category? Also, trying to lose 1 pound seems to take an act of Congress. Aging truly sucks! :furious:

All of what you say falls under the menopausal symptoms!! Now the HOT FLASH...OMG, you WILL know...it starts to come on you, like this feeling creeping into your system...then you start to get hot then you get realllllly hot and then you will SWEAT and then it is over!!! Some women it lasts all of seconds and others it can last as long as SEVEN minutes (that is rare) but must of us is around 1-2 minutes in all....way too long for me. :furious:

Oh and the weight loss (as I sit here with a dish of ice cream) YUP...ACT OF CONGRESS!!! :lmao:

Oh...I didn't kill it. :thumbsup2

The main symptom I have noticed is this dang inability to lose weight like I used to. Oh, I hate that.

I think you should be taking this to a doctor instead of to us! The cramps don't sound like perimenapause to me.... there are so many possibilities and if it is something that needs treatment it could be important to go now...
