Ladies - makeup advice..... Clinique???

I have been using Bare Minerals for over 3 years now. I absolutely love it. I bought it for my wedding day and it remained flawless from morning to night (even through all the tears). I could spend my entire paycheck on their eye glimmers.

I started using Bare Escentuals last month and I love it. My skin used to be so oily, as someone else said, I would be powdering all day. Now the oiliness is almost gone, and you don't feel like you are wearing makeup.

Is there a Sephora near you? I bought the starter kit there for $60 - it comes with 3 brushes.

Better yet, is there an Ulta store near you. I just got their sale ad and they have the starter kit for $45.

Second mineral make-up! I use Bare Minerals, as well but there are other brands such as Jane Iredale that are sold at many day spas. If you want a more matte finish, Jane Iredale may be more to your liking.

If you have a day spa near you, call and ask what kind of make up they use for applications. A lot of them seem to favor the mineral make-up.

As far as coverage, one application and you'll become a believer!

I could have written this thread. I have also been a loyal user of Loreal. I turned 40 this year and my skin seems to have changed. Just three weeks ago, I went to the Clinique site and decided to try the stay true makeup. The site helps you pick the best make up color for your skin type. Anyway, I have been using the makup for a little over a week. The make up covers more evenly, my skin has become softer, and I think I look younger. Good luck.

Do any of you ladies know of any products that sound similar?

I can go cheap on many of my other cosmetics.... But my base HAS to be good!

I love Revlon ColorStay - love it, love it.

Another vote for Bare Minerals. I've been using it for about six months now and I will never go back to liquid foundation.

By the way, there's a Bare Minerals store in Atlanta at Lenox Mall if that helps anyone around here.

Heather :wave2:

She had asked for a heavier coverage though - she isnt going to get this with B.M.

I think the mineral makeup *does* give a fairly heavy coverage. It just doesn't feel heavy.

I'm almost 42 years old and I have rosacea and lots of redness here and there. This stuff covers like nothing else. I'm a former Clinque user (for years and years). When I ran out of mineral makeup, I used my Clinique for a few days and was surprised at how much it didn't cover (and I was using a concealer and a pressed powder on top of the Clinque foundation). Then I felt like I had so much junk on my face. I just don't think I can go back to liquid foundation. I'm hooked.

I so agree with this. I get much better coverage than with any liquid. Plus it doesn't give my pores that 'filled in, white, clogged' look that other foundations do. I HATE that look!! AND I have dry skin! I use a good moisturizer first, let it dry & then use the BM. It isn't like other powders that have that drying cakey feel.
My mom, 76, recently started using it because it covers her age spots so well, and her skin is dry as a bone. If you give it a try I bet you'll be a believer too.
(Dear Wishing... I really don't mean to run this topic into the ground but :ssst: I actually sell cosmetics... which I can get for cost... and I LOVE BM so much I pay full price to use it. Goes without saying that I don't sell much foundation. :guilty: )

Man, you guys are good saleswomen!!!

Rella Bella, to bad you can't start being a Bare Minerals rep!!!

So, is QVC the place to buy? (I don't even get QVC on tv.)
Can you go online?

Thanks!

I just bought my starter kit from a site called www.medi-spa.com. Another DIS poster has a thread where she posts coupon specials. There was a coupon over the weekend for 20% off, so I got the $60 starter kit for $48.00 with free shipping and no tax!! Unfortunately, the coupon is over with but you could do a search on "Bare Escentuals" on this board and you can find the thread and watch for a new coupon code to be posted.

Otherwise, you can order from QVC, Sephora, or if you have an Ulta store around you, you could go there.

Now, I just got my kit in the mail yesterday. I previously was a Sheer Cover user. I will say that the Sheer Cover is DEFINITELY a better deal. For $30, you can get their starter kit and it has the same amount of makeup in it. I really like Sheer Cover but couldn't easily get my hands on it this time (HSN was not carrying it this month). But it is also very nice. If you can find Sheer Cover you might want to try it if you don't want to shell out twice the amount of money for BE.

I LOVE Clinique. My dermatologist recommended it years ago. I would definitely give their base a try.

Just to add my 2cents... I have been using Clinique since the 80s....
and love all their products.... bit on the pricey side BUT we are worth it !!

BTW, QVC will have a Bare Minerals Today Special Value on Nov. 18th or 19th, I believe. Usually it isn't a foundation but usually it is a good way to add on to your collection. Sometimes they are good values and sometimes not--depending what is included and what you want or need.

I used to use Clinique until I discovered Bare Minerals! It covers better and feels lighter. Use the Kabuki brush for more coverage. I got a starter kit that included it. The Bisque and concealer brush is another must have. Will never go back to liquid! :)

It is a powder base, but the coverage is excellent! Takes a bit of experimenting to get just the right shade. I have to mix two... but it is so worth it! They have all the other make-up products too, I love the blush and thier other face color products (similar to bronzer... but not as dark) but the base is my favorite.
Here's thier site... http://www.bareminerals.com/
Or check them out on QVC's site...
Here's the link again! You won't be sorry!!

I have been using BE for about 3 weeks now and I love it! I just went to Ulta yesterday and bought BE blush as well. That was a big moment for me. I have been using the same color/brand of blush for 20 years!! So to change now was a big, big thing! I also got coupons in the mail yesterday for 20% off any one item from ULTA and they have the starter kits advertised for $45 as well.

What color blush did you get? I don't like the Warmth that came with my starter kit. (too deep).

I got Pearl. The lady took one look at me and said that was it. She put some on and it was the perfect color! I use the fairly light as my foundation. I agree the Warmth is a little too dark for me. I can get away with it if I use hardly any but then I feel like I don't have enough color on my cheeks.

I use medium. I think I will go to the store at lunchtime and see what they recommend. thanks! :)
