or is it just party of being a lady that makes me want to get a new dress for each formal occassion we go to?
I love getting a new dress for each wedding, cruise or formal Christmas party we go to. My husband just doesn't get it, but won't dare challenge me on it

How many others out there are just like me when it comes to this issue???

Sorry to disappoint you but this lady prefers to have a few dresses in the closet to rotate through for such occasions.

I like to do that! I don't wear dresses that often - so mine go out of style so fast!

I dropped over $100 on a black strapless linen dress in Banana Rebpublic last year - however I was able to wear it to 3 weddings.

I dropped over $100 on a dress for my rehearsal dinner before my wedding last year...luckily I can wear it again to a wedding next month.

I justify the spending if I can wear it to at least 2 different functions.

I usually buy a new dress, unless I'm not going to see the same people. most of the weddings we've gone to the last few years have been friends of DH"s so the same people are there. Plus I've been pregnant 3 times in the last 4 years, so I'm always a different size.

i have a formal event that i attend once a year. i buy a new dress for that every year because it's the same people and everyone remembers what everyone else wears. for weddings though, i usually just wear what i have. i'm going to a semi-formal affair this weekend and i plan to wear the same black dress that i wore to my bil's wedding last year.

If I'm going to see the same people at different events, I always want something new. If it'll be different people, I will wear something I already have.

Nope! I only buy what I REALLY like, and I know it the minute I see it. Then I wear it to death!

I definately need a new dressy dress for each formal occasion! I, too, am one of those persons who's size fluctuates!

Still working on getting back to my 1990 size, however. . .1/2 way there!

I have one formal dress, the classic "little black dress". I bought it last year and wore it to a formal work event and on my cruise. Was hoping to get to wear it again this year, but I'm 7 months pregnant. But, I will hang onto it for years and wear it only a few times probably. It will never go out of style. I prefer to spend my money on other things. Not formals I'll hardly ever wear.

I don't own any dresses. I don't have a place to wear them. But I have 3 events coming up that I am going to need dresses for. 2 are with the same people and one is with different people. So I think I need two new dresses (and pairs of shoes and accessories. )

I don't buy a new dress every Christmas, but I will buy a new dress for a cruise or a wedding. The year that 3 of my brothers all got married, I went to a re-sale shop - no way was I spending $$ on 3 different dresses. I got some good second-hand ones, though. (yeah! they're all too big for me now!)

I don't go to that many places where you have to dress formal, so it's not a big deal to buy a new dress each time. I have worn 2 of my dresses twice, because it was like a long time after, and I was with a completely different crowd. I hate shopping so if I don't find anything I like, I'll just wear something I have in my closet.
