I left the salon a few hours ago. For $170 I got cut, color, brow waxing and 3 products. Granted, I absolutely HATE paying that price. But, I love my new cut and color. I used to pay more to see a senior designer. Then I learned to just book with one of the junior designers and I saved about 30%. I've been just as happy with their service as I was with the senior designers.

At the age of 29, it was the first time I ever had my brows waxed and shaped. My eye brows are very blond and thin. You can barely see them so I've just never seen the point. However, I must say that it looks so much better. Now that I see how great they look, that will be another upkeep expense. I'll have to pay to have it done because there is no way I will attempt that myself.

Are you one of the lucky ones that get to spend less than $50 to maintain your hair? Or are you like me and have to pay out the ying yang every 6 weeks?

I was paying around $130 after tip to cut and color my hair (dye and highlight), but then the stylist I was seeing went out on her own, so now I'm paying $100.

Shampoo, conditioner, sometimes hairspray and mousse. DH has cut my hair the past several years. Prior to that, I would get a wash/cut/blow-dry/style for $15-$20 about once a year. I did pay for a few perms in high school that cost up to $25 dollars or so with the wash/cut/blow-dry/style included.

I don't wear makeup.

I don't get waxed, manicures, pedicures, etc..

I foresee a time when I'll get my hair cut again by someone who knows what they're doing, but it won't cost much.

I've always been pretty low-maintenance in the "beauty" and $$$ department. I prefer it that way. I can be "expensive/high-maintenance" in non-dollar kinds of ways, though.

I pay $45 for a cut and blow-dry every 5 to 6 weeks, I don't need to color my hair, yet. :teeth: I like my hair. :teeth: I do my own eyebrows, which have a naturally arched shape. My mom used to have hers waxed, but was told that pulling the skin makes it sag even more, so she stopped. :teeth: I don't get regular manicures or pedicures, but I use hand creams, pumice stone and moisturizers for the legs and feet. :teeth: I also spend $ on makeup (BM) and a variety of creams and lotions. :rolleyes1

I drop about 50 at the hair salon but I get a cut and style only ( that is with her tip )

I get 2 pedicures a month that is about 100 with the tip

I get my brows waxed for 20 bucks

Massage every 3 weeks at 75.00 for one hour plus a tip

I grew up with nothing and am very glad I can now pay for something : ) but if I had to I could go without .
Now my kids that is another story a trip to the MAC counter would set me back 100-150 bucks every couple of months or so . Now she is out on her own I spend about 50 a month on her makeup LOL when she calls I pick it up for her .

Not much, thankfully. I never was too into it.

I paid $28 today for a cut and brow waxing. I do that about 6 times a year. Maybe one or two mani/pedi combos per year (usually pre-vacation). I don't wear makeup often, rarely use anything in my hair, and I'm still working on the same bottle of perfume I got for Christmas 3 years ago.

Throw in a few bucks for lotion, and I probably can buy an entire year of "beauty" for less than $500.

South Central MA on the CT line:

Yesterday I got a Color/Cut/Eyebrow Wax = $55.00..I go about every 3-4 weeks.

Manicure and Pedicure is = $35.00

Manicure is = $15.00..I go every Friday for a manicure and every 3 weeks for a pedicure.

:goodvibes

Heh. I haven't had my hair cut in over a year.
I really need to have it done
But after having to spend $300 on new glasses, $330 on 3 new pairs of shoes (no choice due to needing 5EE & my old ones were falling apart), plus having to pay my bills, giving my dad a birthday present, and numerous other expenses, I just don't have the money. Not to mention the fact that I have to pay $8 for a bottle of soap. I have no choice in soap since everything else breaks me out (skin allergies to fragrances).
Which also means that I have few choices in my makeup and my shampoo and hairspray.

So yeah. To keep me looking decent, I have to spend lots of money. Just not on haircuts. :teeth:

$40 for a shampoo, cut, and style including tip. I go when I need to =)

I stopped highlighting my hair due to $$$ and if I get an itch, I can have someone highlight it at home for me for very little $. It costs about $8 in supplies from Sally and looks the same if you're doing 1 color.

I wax my own brows using Sally Hansen wax strips. $5 for a box lasts me forever and it looks just as good =)

Do my own nails. Shave my own legs. Guess I'm just not very high maintenance =)

I get my hair cut and colored every 8 weeks at about $90 plus tip
I buy producs while I'm there too so that's an extra $20 or so

Eyebrow wax every 4 weeks $10 plus tip

Gel fills every two weeks $25 plus tip

Pedicure once or twice a month $30 plus tip

Massage once a month $75 plus tip

Clothing and shoe shopping every 2-3 weeks $$$

Um, I'd better stop before DH comes on here and starts adding it all up. :teeth:

I get a cut and color/highlights every 2 months for about $118 including tip.
I get my nails done (acrylics) every 2 weeks for about $25, including tip.
The few times I've had my eyebrows done I paid about $10. Most of the time I have my SIL's mom do it for me for free. :teeth:

Quicken says I averaged $1000 a month on treatments and products in 2005. The spa is my therapy. :thumbsup2

I pay $20 every 6 months for a trim and $10 every month for eyebrows..BUT i found a GREY hair today :furious: so I forsee more $ in my future

You would think I was about as low maintence as they come but I love perfume and have quite a collection of fragrances that cost much more than I'm willing to add up so I end up spending more than anyone would realize looking at me (unless they take a good sniff! LOL)

I just had my hair done, and just the cut and some highlights cost $165. It's not cheap around here, which is why I only get my hair done every few months. I took my acrylic nails off a few days ago because it was costing almost $50 every 2-3 weeks for a fill and pedicure. I'll still get pedicures, but I'm just going to buff and polish my own nails.

I haven't had my hair cut since December, I really need to get to that. I hate fake nails so I haven't had them since my wedding almost a year ago. My cousin is a cosmetologist so she gives me a pedi every few weeks and I wax and tweeze my own eyebrows.

I also have a facial every few weeks but again my cousin is a cosmetologist so I don't pay for them. :goodvibes

Twice a year I go to the hairdresser and pay +/- 70 EUR.

I take care of the colour at home, with products I buy at the supermarket (+/- 8 EUR every 6-8 weeks)

That's about it.

ETA: I have natural long nails, that I take care for myself. I absolutely HATE fake nails, I think it looks cheap although they are expensive (sorry)

I do a facial myself once in a while, with Helena Rubinstein products.

I do spend huge amounts of money on perfumes, and once in a while I spend large amounts of money on designer sunglasses, purses, ...
And don't forget the SHOES!! If Carrie Bradshaw thinks she has a shoe collection, she hasn't seen mine yet! :)

About $105 for a cut and color. Every five weeks. Ouch!

I wear my hair short and it grows like a weed, so I just don't have much of a choice with the time frame.

I spend $50 for a cut/highlight about every 6-7 weeks. The guy who does my hair has been my hairdresser since I was 6 :) I don't know what I'm going to do when he retires!!!

I get my eyebrows shaped about once a month for $12- same salon. I absolutely refuse to sit at home and pluck myself to death when I can get someone else to wax them in 10 minutes and look FAR better than I could do them. :) Plus, I have a birthmark in one of my eyebrows and she can work around it better than I can.

I don't use any product in my hair aside from shampoo and conditioner so I don't have to buy those items.

As far as paying for looking good, the only place I drop money is on qvc.com buying Bare Escentuals products :)

ETA: I don't get my nails done. Being in a wheelchair, it's just pointless. I use my hands so much on a daily basis my nails get broken and chipped very easy. I had acrylics a few years ago, and while they were pretty, I hated them.
