Ladies: Do you wear makeup on the weekends or when you're "off" from work?

I rarely put on makeup or my contact lenses on the weekends (except for church) and when I saw my reflection in the mirror this weekend in passing I noticed how much I'm beginning to look like my mom. Then I thought to myself, "My poor husband has to look at this on the weekends". I noticed my MIL putting on lipstick after lunch today...she was going straight home. I don't even remember if I even put on lipstick today for church.

Is this a character flaw? Or are there more of us without our "faces" on the weekends??

I do wear a little makeup on weekends, especially if I see my bf

No! LOL! I only wear it if I'm at work, school or going out or something. I don't wear it to the store, the bank, the doctors, to take the dog for a walk etc. :p

I'm sitting here WITHOUT makeup and WITHOUT contacts and I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm not going out today. I LOVE my "no makeup" weekend days. :)

I don't think it is a character flaw at all. I think it reflects that we are happy with ourselves without having to put a mask on for the rest of the world. Besides it is good to give your skin a chance to breathe without all of the stuff on it.

As for your MIL... I can't imagine my mother EVER going ANYWHERE without her makeup... not even the backyard. Most people raised before the late 60's just can't fathom not always being "fixed". Obviously my mom's ideas didn't rub off on me. Pretty much, the only time I wear it is going to work or going out somewhere special. As for lipstick... I only wear that if it is a dressy occasion or I have a job interview... I can't stand the feel of it, and never could. Drives my mom crazy that I am like this... but I am happy with myself, my husband has no problem with it, so why should anyone else!?!

I wear makeup on the weekends, but I'm a SAHM, so my weekends aren't much different than my weekdays. My DH likes it when I make at least a little effort to look good for him. If that's not something that matters to yours, I wouldn't worry about it in the slightest.

I dont work outside of the home, but on any day, if I know Im staying in for the whole day, I wont bother putting on makeup. If I know I will be going out in public to run errands, or go for a walk, etc... I will wear concealer, base, and sometimes blush. If Im going out somewhere special, like out to dinner, or out for the night, or an event at school, then I wear it all. :D

I admit, I pretty much never wear make up. I think I've worn it maybe 3 times in the last year. I will probably wear it next for my sister's wedding, but if I am having a "good skin day" I won't bother with much if any that day. I am just not a make up person I guess.

Yes, but toned down. I skip the eyeliner and lipstick and opt for just shadow and mascara.

I wear it for work but never one the weekend (unless we are going to a wedding or something).

Even when I wear it I think I wear so little that most people don't notice. I don't like to look "too made up".

Rarely, unless I'm going out to eat or the mall or something. Even then it's just foundation, concealer and a little blush. My DH hates lipstick, which is a plus for me. I might wear a little lip balm to ward off dryness, but that's it.

If I'm just staying home, I don't. Right now its 6pm and I'm still in pajamas, so I guess that says something! ;)

If I'm going anywhere, though, even if its just wal-mart, I'll go ahead and do hair and makeup and such :)

I don't wear make-up except on special occasions. Most mornings, I don't have time to put it on before going to work.

No make up here unless I'm going to be seen! I barely wear any during the week or when going out. When I do, one of my kids will tell me I look funny -- they also tell me that when I curl my hair or do anything different. I guess they are use to "Mom".

I dont wear any makeup except for special occasions.

No make up on the weekend, but I don't wear it during the week either!

That money goes in my Disney fund! :D

Thanks for the responses. I think one of the posters said something about how being fully "made up" all the time was something our moms do. I do think my generation is not so concerned about how others see our appearance. On the flip side, I would be curious what the men think of this. Do they like to see their SO's/wives made up all the time or is it not important to them. I'm sure my husband would tell me he doesn't care.

Just something I was pondering this weekend since I had a sore throat yesterday and wore my pj's til 5pm. I wasn't pleasant to look at...even to me. Won't even ask about shaving legs.....

(BTW...I always make myself up on vacation - for photos!)

I don't usually wear makeup, except maybe something on my lips so they don't dry out. I only put my contacts in on the weekend if I'm driving somewhere - can't see as well with my glasses.

i don't even wear makeup all the time during the week. i will wear it on the weekend if i am going out (and by that i don't mean shopping or going to the grocery, i mean out to dinner, to a bar, or to a club with friends).
