Please tell me about them! Would they be okay for an older girl? I'm 50, would they look ridiculous on me? Mine are so sparse now! Are they worth the hassle? I really don't know anything about how to apply them, etc. I know Oprah wears them, and what a difference on her! :thumbsup2

I know several people who have professionally attached eyelash extensions. They can be thick or thin and trimmed to any length.
You get a "set" kind of like getting your nails done and then go in every few weeks for fills.
I say why not, if you want them and are willing to spend the $$ then do it!

The self glue type, I have never tried because frankly the idea of me handling glue near my own eyeballs scares the poop out of me

I don't know about false eyelashes, but have you thought about trying Latisse? I was skeptical at first, but it really does work wonderfully! My eyelashes were very short and sparse and now they are thick, lush and LONG. My problem now is that they are so long I keep getting mascara on my eyelids - not complaining, though. I can't recommend it enough - I started seeing results after a few weeks. A bottle is pricey ($120), but lasts several months and is well worth it! :)

thanks for the replies Ladies, Mamacat, I didn't know you could have them done at the salon, they aren't permanent, are they? I am a little scared about doing things that are sort of un-reversible! otherwise, I'll check that out. I don't like the idea of glue near my eyeballs either, but I thought maybe there were self stick-one's that weren't really too blingy-ish.

Kim, I know about Latisse, but I am afraid of side effects, too chicken to take any chances with that. but I guess its something to check w/ my dr. I'd love to have a solution thats easy, cheap but doesn't look it! lol :)

The extensions are not permanent - they are small sections of lashes (2-3lashes per extension) that are then glued on by a "professional" they do fall off etc. thus the need for fills every few weeks. They are quite attractive looking and somewhat spendy for the upkeep but No, they are not permanent

I've thought about trying Latisse. But what do you do, just tell your MD you want it? I'm using a mascara now that makes my lashes look better. But I'd still like them thicker if I could.

I'm not sure if all doctors will prescribe it. Typically, I think dermatologists and cosmetic surgeons do, though. My doctor keeps a supply in his office and I just call them when I need a refill and they send it to me. If you go to www.latisse.com they have a doctor finder so can try to find one that way.

I've worn them for special ocassions and they are very easy to apply and they look very natural. They are very cheap too. You can get someone at the makeup counter to apply them the first time if you're nervous but it's pretty easy. No one will even know they aren't real. You often have to trim the a bit the 1st time to get them the right size. There are even youtube videos that show you how to put them on.

My wife says they look like things only crossdressers would wear and I was kinda saddened by that remark because I have shot models that wore them and they looked smokin' hot!!!!

I heard that Latisse can change your eye color. Otherwise I'd go for it. I like my eye color.

In the 60's I used them all the time, not that I'm giving my age away :lmao:
Now I find my lashes are light and so thin that I thought of trying the "falsies" again. Latisse seems too good to be true. Not for me.

Ok I just read a ton of info about Latisse and it seems to be legit as far as growing longer, darker, fuller lashes. I couldn't find any negative reviews about it not working.

The eye color change is supposedly very rare (3%) and that's only if you already have brown pigment in the iris, like hazel eyes, and only if you continually get it in your eyes for it to get on the iris.

But at $100 a bottle that only lasts for a month (30 applications per eye), and the fact that you have to use it for life to keep the lashes growing long, it's just not in my budget.

Oh well. I'll just keep reading this thread for false eyelash info!
