Ladies, are bangs "in"?

They appear to be!! Which works great for me becuase I tried and tried and tried to grow them out and was so close, but had to hack them off.

I just follow whatever Katie Couric is doing, I think she looks terrific no matter what she does:D Now I am just trying to grow my hair out a little. I used to have a stacked cut in the back.

I'm trying to grow my bangs out. They're just below my jawline now. I kinda prefer bangs on me (I can hide my eyes behind them sometimes;)), but I need a different style, so I'm growing them out.

I also had grown out my bangs a couple years ago - needed a change. It was SO easy having hair all one length!

But, I again wanted a change and went back to bangs last Sept. I never thought I looked that good without them - but having them is alot more work.

Darn it all I just grew mine out after 31 years of having bangs. I don't think I will go back...much easier without them.

Can someone please explain what "bangs" are? :p

Are they wispy bits of hair like a fringe?

Belle, yes, American bangs are the equivalent of the British fringe. I once had an entire salon in Leeds rolling on the floor in laughter when I asked for bangs to be cut--they'd never heard the term before! :)

Forget what's in style, just wear what you like. :D I haven't had bangs in 15 years. They never did what I needed them too. They curved around into a heart on my forhead.

I never got rid of them. I look absolutely horrible without bangs.

Count me in the big forehead club! I have some light bangs to cover up my forehead in case I put my hair back. :smooth:

Another life-long bang person.

So to answer the question, of course bangs are "in". ;)

Nor had I BedKnobbery2 - I just guessed. Bangs here are loud noises!

Do you use the term "fringe" in the US then?

I've had bangs since I was 13 (I'm 40 now). I hate the way I look without them. Actually, I think most people look better with bangs. Maybe I have some sort of "forehead phobia!" BTW, I have absolutely no wrinkles on my forehead, either - maybe it's because my bangs have always blocked the sun?

I just cut bangs. I was told they are in. They are driving me crazy. I had gotten used to being able to pull everything back off my face.

Did you hear that 80's style is coming back?

Have you even been to target lately? I about died when i walked through the junior clothing. I just don't know if I can possibly put on those tacky skirts and shirts on again. I want to be somewhat in style, but this is pushing it...
I don't know if I can even buy any of it for my 6 year old. The girls department is full of the stuff, too. Those ugly bold colorful stripes!! UGH!!!

Everyone has very different facial features. What's wrong in attempting to choose a hairstyle that will flatter YOU.....not choose a style that's trendy for right now. I look back at high school pics and cringe. There I am, wearing a style that's horrid on me just because it was "in" at the time. Sure hope I'm doing better now!
