Ladies....... any hair tips?

I feel embarassed to ask!, but how do you keep you hair looking good on the cruise?. I imagine it is very windy on the ship, as well as the humidity.....I know I will look a knotted frizz ball!! (or an explosion in a mattress factory!!!). So I would love the hear the beauty secrets you may have to looking good on a cruise without spending hours washing and drying it. Also what about the rainforest and saunas?, (and not to mention the surial bath OMG!)so do you try to get back to your room without anyone seeing you?. (My hair is just below my ears and I have short bangs and hair with a mind of its own. It is not quite long enough to put in a ponytail without lots of stragglers, but have till september to grow a little more LOL!). HELP!

the shampoo in the rooms is not enough. I hear they only have separate conditioner in cats 1-3

Conditioner will definitely help. but figure on not being "perfect" during the day! Try to pull your hair back as best as you can, and remember, everyone is in the same boat (no pun intended!). Just relax and have a great time!

I wouldn't spend a lot of time worrying about it....certainly don't let it ruin your vacation. You'll see all types on board. My advice would be to get a couple of cute clips to keep your hair back and also head to the gift shop on board and treat yourself to a new hat!

I am also a frizzy head in the humidity, so I feel your pain. My hair was up during most of the cruise, or under my new hat! I saved the "primping" for dinner time.

I agree...don't sweat it during the day! However, if you grow it a little longer so it can be pulled back, it would probably be easier for you. How about having it braided first day they offer on ship??

I have waist length hair, so even a pony tail gets tangles. When it's windy, I put a scrungy in the ponytail about every three inches. Keeps it neat. Only other option for me is braiding...which I fully intend to have done on the ship!!

I too stressed over the hair issue----I had a "bob" for years, my last cruise I cut it off--Short with layers--I must say its easy to style, a little gel and off you go. But it is still long enough to blow dry to make it look "dressed up" (If you see re-runs of the TV show Raymond---it's Debbie's (Ray's wife) hair cut).

I live in Colorado, no humidity. Relatives in Ohio cannot figure out why I look different there vs here. Well, it is the hair, straight here, not at all there. Hats, pulled back, gelled, clipped and Frizz-EZE type products help. It also helps when you do not want to do a Janice Joplin impersonation to just condition the heck out of it then DO NOT comb, just use your fingers to shove it in place, then, and here is the real secret, AVOID mirrors.

I normally dry my hair out straight but on each of our cruises, it goes into its wave action -- not really straight, not really curly -- just enough to make me look funny.

I use Aveda products -- They have a daily conditioner in a trial size which is perfect for the cruise and also they have a no-frizz immolient product that works to keep my hair controlled and not frizzy/fuzzy.

Of course all the other suggestions posted are cheaper than mine but wanted you to have a plethora of options because that's what the DIS boards are all about!

I had a shoulder lenght hair on the first few days of our cruise then had Rosie cut it and now it is without a doubt "Short". I love it.

Beyond getting it cut onboard. Really don't worry about it. Pick up a fun hat and smile. Everyone else is looking about the same.

My hair is short, and seldom frizzes, so it's not a problem for me. But I'd suggest as others have, a hat. (I'll be bringing at least two, if not three with me to keep the sun off my face.)

Bumble and Bumble has a great grooming cream that a coworker with frizzy hair uses and swears by. (I LOVE their hair products!)

I have long curly hair with a mind of it's own. For our October cruise, I invested in a lot of different clips, scrunchies etc. I used a silicone based product to keep it somewhat tame. One thing I never do is brush it or I'll look like Don King. I "pick" it when it's wet and fluff with my fingers when dry.

I spent minimal time on my hair and enjoyed the cruise.

I have the worst curly hair, frizzy and I use lots of Gel and Spray in moose, pull it back with barretts during the day. The wind is crazy, but I don't let it bother me. When we get ready for dinner, you never have to go out in the wind, go from your room right to the dinning rooms. Our pictures on the past 2 cruises came out beautiful, you would never know I was on a cruise. My hair was perfect and stayed fine at night. Just during the day it was beach hair and that is what it should be, you are on vacation.

Everyone else is sweating, swimming, suriel bathing, etc.......I only did my hair at night before dinner. However, just before the cruise, I cut my shoulder length bob to an above the ear, tossled looking thing....with highlights! (ooooooooooo!)

Its a vacation, I woudn't even worry about it...I just washed my hair and went when I was on the cruise...I NEVER blow dry my hair, een at home, since that dries your hair out more ways than one....I have to tell you I didn't even notice other peoples hair so I am sure no one will see you coming out of the spa and say "oh geez look at that ladies hair!" Even when I pulled my hair back in a pony tale sometimes it so windy that it just flew right out of it!
I wouln't waste my valueable cruise time messing wth my hair for an hour though.

Thank you ladies!, I am starting to chill out a bit , I am going to ask a hairdresser tomorrow what he thinks!. I know chopping it off could be a solution but I have been growing it out for years now, so hate to do that till I am really ready. As for hats, I never seem to look right in them but it is definitely a good solution if they don't blow off!. I shall look at the hair products as well, I have tried some and they weigh down my fine greasy hair!...... I am a lost cause lol!!. But I really appreciate everyones responses, love this board, thanks!.

Looking for a total head replacement!!

Keep looking, and try on lots of different styles, you're guaranteed to find one that works!

I always wear one to keep the sun off my face and keep my skin from aging.

I did the "headband" braids in Nassau and I can't begin to explain to you how painful it was! As soon as I got back to my stateroom I took two motrin. By 11 that night I couldn't stand the pain any longer so I spent 1 hour taking them out!! They were pulled so tight that I now know what I would look like if I ever have a face lift!
