Lactose intolerant

My niece's 4 year-old is lactose intolerant so they have to be vigilant about what she eats. I know that when an ADR is made the information about the allergy is entered so it is in the computer for subsequent reservations.

Does anyone know how food allergies are handled at counter service restaurants?

I have this problem as well. I do take over the counter medicine which can help if I only have like butter on my mashed potatoes or something like that. I don't recall having any problem when we were there in Feb. I would still ask about the allergy at every CS and snack place that you eat. Better safe than sorry!

Also, there's an email address on the DISabilities board. Send an email to them and you'll get back a bunch of information about what's safe to eat and what's not. My DS4 has peanut allergies and I did this for him. They also sent a form to fill out and Disney will keep on file for their reference to help make sure he doesn't get peanuts.

Make sure and tell your server at each place you dine. I have dealt with food allergies, and this is what we do.

At the buffets, they'll have a chef take you down the line and tell you what is fine to eat. Just tell them about your allergy, and they'll do the rest. Sometimes it take a minute before the checf can come to your table, but well worht the wait.

I'd also be certain that you have any allergy meds on you just in case. Benadryl is a life saver and carrying a few tabs is painless.

Our youngest son has a milk allergy (along with a couple others) and for the counter service restaurants we just asked for the manager. They were usually very helpful and have a 'book' that lists all the items and the ingredients. By the way, some were more accommodating than others.....we weren't impressed with Pepper Market or Cosmic Rays but most of the others were very helpful. As far as sit down restaurants and buffets, just ask for the chef....we were very impressed with the chefs at all of the resort/park table service restaurants but were less than satisfied with the other non-disney places (especially Raglan Road).

If this little girl has any food with lactose, she would become sick enough to lose a day at Disney.

I will be passing on all your advice to my niece.

It never occured to me to look under disabilities. Now that it has been pointed out it makes sense.
