Is anyone else concerned that there has be a lack of storms so far this year?
I am just worrying they will all turn up when i go on the 22nd August to 8th September.
Does anyone know what the predictions are for this year?

:confused3 :confused3

Yes - worried about the same thing - we are there 25th Aug for 2 weeks.

Although anyway the real hurricane season tends to be Aug/Sept not June July.

Havent been for 2 years due to being caught in hurricane Frances :sad2:

Apparently, there's been a massive deluge over MK today with hail stones thrown in as well!!

(That's Milton Keynes by the way :rotfl2: )

I am off myself in two weeks' time, but I am not going to worry about something I have no control over :)

Ditto. Touch wood a thousand times and all of that too :)

Funnily enough, I was thinking the same. No doubt the hurricanes will hit from 11th August onwards!!

Dh and I were discussing this last night, we have been caught in three, twice out there, and sent home from Gatwick due to Jean. We have decided that we are not allowed to talk about it anymore. If we dont discuss it wont happen ha ha . Anyway, the Americans deserve a year off ...

they certainly do, they really had it tough last year. Hopefully it'll be really mild this year

Jessie: You will be fine!!! We are going 8/5 - 8/11 and I'm sure the weather will get all of the storms out of it's system then...just my luck!!! :rotfl2:
But really, maybe it's just nature balancing itself between last year and this year!

I was only just talking about this earlier this morning with my bridesmaid, It hadn't even crossed my mind until now!
As long as we can get to Orlando I'm not to bothered!

I was talking to a couple who lost everything 2 years ago to the hurricane Ivon the onther day
all that was left of the house was the tilled floors , everything else was gone , They had lived in this house for over 50 years and had seen quite a few hurricanes in it time ,
They are still waiting to get there house rebuilt, they were given a caravan to live in for the time been , they said the price of everything has gone up so much and with the insurance , when it will finalily come throught still waiting that they will only be able to build a house half the size of the one they lost

So I am sure all of the US are hopping for no hurricanes

That's it Jackie. Although for us holidaymakers it is very upsetting to lose any holiday time, my thoughts are always with the poor people whose homes have been devastated.

I was thinking the same but didnt dare post about this, I didnt wish to tempt fait but its been ok ( up to now) there in two weeks fingers crossed legs crossed, anything crossed.

Forgot just to add i here that if its a El Nino year when the Pacific ocean hots up on the America side more than usual the carribean has less activity but the west coast has more, and the Austrailia BBQ's, i am not sure but I think this might be an El nino, also on thoose years other countires weather changes, like we are in a heatwave?????

Please everybody, this is my worst nightmare, being on holiday and a hurricane arriving. It is 3 weeks till we go. So fingers crossed evryone please. My son is absolutely terrified of a thunderstorm here so god alone knows what he will be like in Disney.

We too got caught in hurricanre francis, and are also worried about the first big one. I am travelling 2nd sept for 2 weeks. We go every two years and have always managed to land and take off in between them. very lucky i know. In 2004 will had to stay extra 3 days cause of flight cancelled. I really do have bad feeling this time... :confused3

fingers crossed

wendy i do hope you son will be ok. I was also in same situation with my son. however i found when we was enjoying ourselve at parks and the rumbles started he was more preoccupide by the park and enviroment. try not to hurry him inside and make a issue of it.
but please be aware there will be alot of thunder.so try and prepare him before you go..

Hi Wendy, we are also going in 3 weeks time. This is one of those topics I don't like to talk about in case I tempt fate. Yes August/September is a peak time for hurricanes but we have been at this time before with nothing to report. However when we went at the end of October last year for a week (supposed to be pretty much hurricane-free being the end of the season) we ran into Hurricane Wilma, so you never know.
