Labor Day?

We are going over Labor Day.... What are the crowds like? I know it will be HOT HOT HOT.. Which is ok because we are staying at the BCV and plan to take advantage of SOB...

Labor Day weekend will be quite busy -- last big summer "hurrah" for all the out-of-towners, and a large number of locals visit as well. Parks won't close at capacity, but it will feel like it! Between the crowds and the heat, you'll wear out pretty quickly, so plan some down time every day back at the hotel.

It's still hurricane season then, so expect afternoon showers almost daily too.

Do they shorten the park hours that weekend or do they wait until after that weekend?

I know no one ever really believes me when I say this, but Disney hasn't ever "shortened" hours during off season -- they "extend" them during busy times. Back when you could actually define what the off-season was, the normal operating hours were 9am-7pm at MK. And during "on season", they would extend. Then, more people started coming during off-season and the lines between the two blurred a lot more. And the additional crowds would cause WDW to extend hours. People got so used to longer hours, that they started thinking that Disney was shortening them during other times of the year, when in fact they were just returning them to normal. (Kind of like how Target is open certain hours all year round, but extends during Christmas and then goes back to normal.)

But, be that as it may, Labor Day weekend hours are likely to be extended, through Monday. Beginning on Tuesday, things will go back to normal hours.
