A lovely DVC weekend with my prince! šŸ¤“šŸ» And then, HS After Hours for the grad!

So, when we were there we saw a sign for a guided bird walk but, I am not sure of days and times. On the magical resorts guide site there was a Purple Martins Nest Check activity led by a conservation expert listed in March-May of 2025. But, I don’t see it for the current season! There were so many pretty feathery friends there!

Headed home! 🄲

Dropping some pics from an our vacation Wednesday through Friday. I took off two full weeks from work to rest and celebrate. Just had to sneak in a couple of days for a new client and some scheduling stuff. What a whirlwind! Hosted a party and some dinners. Out of town guests. And ended with an amazing time at Disney.

Ohana, After Hours at HS, Boma and DS were all awesome!

Hubby said his favorites for the whole trip were the noodles and pineapple bread pudding at Ohana.

First, AH after Ohana. Drove in and parked right next to the preferred parking at 9:30. Walked into the entrance and onto MMRR. Star Tours almost took Jacob out! Nauseous 🤢 so we got him a Sprite back where we started by MMRR as we got lost trying to get to Star Wars land. Tried RnR but it was down, not yet ready for TOT. Sooo, Toy Story fun and back to a galaxy far far away to ROTR.

My son put ROTR up there with Velocicoaster. High praise from him. Walked on to everything but Slinky Dog (30 min posted wait, 20 min actual), Toy Story (10 min posted and actual), and RnR (40 posted, 20 actual). I saw some complaints about lack of characters and snacks. We saw snacks at some of the established locations along with carts. FRESH popcorn at the established spots like outside of MMRR. Bo Peep was the only character we heard about as the line to see her was next to TSM. But, we did not intentionally search.

Every SLP I know uses Mr Potato Head so, have to pay homage…

Check out day came so quickly! Yesterday, we recovered from AH. Slept in, food at the Poly pool, hot tub chatting with fellow travelers, dole whip smoothies (grown up style), boat ride to MK, monorail back with a stop at the Contemporary for lunch and shops. Then, NAP.

After nap, more food! We had a 6:40 reservation at Boma. I first took my son when he was 11 or 12? We had gotten stationed in CA but, had lots of friends back here in FL. ASHA (my profession’s national convention) was in Orlando that year so, I booked us 5 nights at AKL right before Thanksgiving on a cash stay with a military discount. Attended ASHA and fell in love with AKL for the holidays. (Except those lonnnnggg hallways!) Back then, it was around $200/night. That was my first stay at a deluxe resort. (Hooked!) We splurged on a dinner at Boma and several of my friends came over to AKL to visit, have dinner or spend the night. Jacob has wanted to return to Boma ever since but, every time we have had vacations together, he kept picking Universal!

We finally got that boy back to Boma. His review, ā€œI have had dinner at fancy steakhouses before and I actually prefer this. Can get what I want, as much as I want and try lots of different things.ā€ He also said it blew Ohana out of the water. (Sorry Ohana lovers!) I loved the peanut rice and spicy, perfectly prepared veggies in every variation that I tried. Jacob loved the meats, potatoes and corn pudding. We all adored the desserts! I had to take a snap of that cute little Mickey on the passionfruit mousse and our pretty cocktails (prickly pear mule, something honey for me).

Bonus was finding a graduation Stitch in the shop after dinner! Along with his graduation Stitch, sharing some other Stitchy finds along the way.

One thing I noticed was that our dinners typically took about 2 hours from start to finish. Both nights, our reservations were at 6:40 but, we didn’t get back to the room until around 9.

Originally we intended to have dinner at Boma then hit up DS. BUT, we did not get back to the room until 9:20. Heard the boom boom of MK fireworks and made hubby walk to the beach to enjoy. We got there just in time for Olaf to say ā€œI’d melt for you.ā€ Did a little shoulder dancing to the music and that ended our night on a sweet note.

Today, we got up, did a bit of gym time at the Towers fitness center (fridge with chilled towels was a nice touch) packed up, checked out and headed to DS to burn up the rest of our dining plan credits and vacation budget! 😜

Lego Store fun:

We had great weather, great fun, and great food. We were so thankful for the amazing folks who work so hard every day to bring us the magic. And Aaron got to ride his favorite ride on the way home…
